I gave a spin to the 2009 HoB bootleg today, and i must confess that the latest STD with Ed on vocals is embarassing, compared to CS's one.
Long live the new *LIVE*

I wasn't sure where to post this... I don't know if it deserved it's own thread... probably not....

Who remebers mvdb? He used to run http://www.mvdb.org - a very popular website in its day and was a frequent poster on the illout.com forum. A person whose user name is mvdb posted the following on the Freaks4Live forum. I don't know if it's the real mvdb or somebody who thought it would be funny to use his name but whoever it was didn't hold back. Here's what was written:

Congratulations on becoming a mediocre Live cover band!!

What a sad idea to re-record Throwing Copper-era tracks. They sound terrible and empty. They make clear how important Ed's voice and emotions are to Live, and without him, all that remain are bunch of mediocre musicians. It is incredibly cheap to recycle old tracks like this. It is cheap and opportunistic to continue under the name and logo of Live. Ed Kowalczyk was the driving force behind Live. You blame Ed for a million things but most of all you blame him for your personal problems. You project your problems on the outside world, rather than looking into yourself, your own mistakes and weaknesses. Ed is an incredibly good guy, and you try to make him look like the villain just to blind yourself from your own shitty attitudes. You are in denial of yourself, and I'm talking to you Chad Taylor. Your actions are miserable.

I wish you everything that you deserve for making such bad decisions. I guess you ran out of money, or are frustrated by the lack of succes of your band without the Live brand.

I wish there was a way to stop you guys from defaming the Live name and legacy. I cannot believe the utter lack of respect. Considering the mediocrity of your performances, it should burn out soon and without too much damage.

Not many people take the time to write down how lame you really are right now, but I hope you know it's what the majority of old Live fand think. You. Are. Incredibly. Lame.

THis guy is a Live freak from TDTH on......he's also cultist Ed Minion. He used to have a decent site (a pirate anyway)but he's not what I consider someone who really knows what Live is all about. He can go fuck himself in perpepetutiy. He's always been hyper critical about this band. I am sure MVDB can be told to fuck off. If that guy is not MVDB then he's got no class.

...appropriate response left so they don't have to.

"mediocre musicians" ? Well that's telling, so he has thought that 3/4 of Live were always mediocre, because I fail to see how a different singer would suddenly make someone a better drummer/guitarist/bassist. And if thats the case then Ed had some supernatural powers! If it's not the case and he thinks 3/4 of Live were always mediocre, then, how the hell can you call yourself a fan of the band to begin with? Even the people who rip on Ed here are able to admit he had some amazing talent. Doesn't many sense to me, sounds like someone just lashing out and making ridiculous unfounded claims that they haven't thought through. If you don't like the idea of Live without Ed, that's fine, but at least present an argument that isn't dog's balls.

MVDB and I got into a few heated exchanges on Illout, when I called out Ed. He's an Ed fan, and not a fan of Live.

CCCP are going to have to deal with Ed fanatics lashing out. Divorce. Sports competition. Politics. Religion. It is inevitable when people viewing things from different sides - but not everyone has their own message board on which people may air their grievances. You know what they say... The world is full of *ssholes, or people with *ssholes, or who have *sshole opinoins, or whatever that saying is...

Hopefully CCCP expect it and have thick skin.

I think the odds are stacked against Live having great commercial success at this stage of the game - with or without Ed. But it would please me greatly and be exquisite vindication towards Ed and people like this, if Live goes on without Ed and finds success playing before, and pleasing large crowd. It would reinforce my faith in the idea that good rock music is not dead and can ultimately overcome. And might give Ed some idea of what he was working with and what he marginalized and overlooked.

That mvdb sighting prompted me to head over to Illout and read through my old posts. Damn I was a pissed off guy about Live back then.

I really went after them and the direction they were taking.

Rugby Mike was my user name if you are curious.

THey're not doing it for huge commercial success....they're doing it to bring it back to doing it right!!! If it catches on wonderful. It's for musical fulfillment. Those who take that stance are ignorant anyway.

Re: Clips from Live's new album!!!!!!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you want lyrics listen to good hip hop.

Live's lyrics are simplistic at best on all albums including Throwing Copper. While it probably is the least cheesy it definitely is cheesy.. even the release date is cheesy: 1994. And most songs on it are about love and water as usual.

I gotta say I prefer the simple, visual, descriptive lyrics on TC, SS, TDTH to the lame lovey dovey wannabe-philosopher I-am-Jesus lyrics on MJ and BOP, and probably this new album.

Live's trademark is "awkward". My favorite song by them is about placentas. That's Live.

If you prefer Pearl Jam and all of their "we are so serious" political crap maybe you should be on the Pearl Jam board instead of wishing Live was Pearl Jam. It's just a band man. It's just stupid music.

maybe the freaks4live post was by someone else.... hmmmmm lol.gif Now, who's the known CT hater and basher here....
