2. Secret Samadhi
3. Mental Jewelry
4. TDTH / The Gracious Few
5. BOP
6. V
7. SFBM

Didn't even bother to listen to "Alive", "Live at the Paradiso" and "Radiant Sea" to be honest...
I gave up on +LiVe+ right after SFBM.

1. TDTH - IMO , almost pefect
2. TC
3. SS - Musically , I love it but lyrically some of the songs just make me cringe. The church / lurch & puke stinks like beer thing .... And , it contains my fav song Gas Hed.
4. MJ
5. BOP
6. V
7. SFBM

I also have to mention MTV Unplugged. The version of T.B.D. is also a favorite along with Supernatural.

I would like to bring this topic back so the newbies can give their opinion about Live's albums.

My ranking:

1. Throwing Copper
2. Secret Samadhi
3. The Distance to Here

4. Birds of Pray
5. The Gracious Few
6. Mental Jewelry

7. V
8. Alive

9. Songs From Black Mountain

Note: Please remeber that i love every album from LIVE/TGF/EK. I had to chose. numbers 4-9 will never come close to the level of the top 3. Numbers 4-6 are also albums i really like and are much better than numbers 7-9.

Or so that oldies can revise theirs. And I didn't think to include TGF's stuff...

---

1) Throwing Copper
2) Secret Samadhi
3) The Distance To Here
4) Mental Jewelry
5) TGF
6) Birds Of Pray
7) V

As for Ed's stuff... no difference to me. I might give a slight nod to SFBM, but overall SFBM and Alive aren't any better than the other. I will at least say Grace and Zion (up until the part where he sounds like he gets poked with a hot iron) are better than anything on SFBM.

My attachment to the older LIVE albums never ceases to amaze me.

At this very moment, if I'm absolutely honest with myself, I put them in the order they were released. The 1st 4 albums any way!

I'm not sure if it's an emotional choice or a sane one, but my subconscious seeds LIVE albums as follows:

1. Mental Jewelry
2. Throwing Copper
3. Secret Samadhi
4. The Distance to Here

Then I'd go with

5. TGF
6. BOP
7. V
...

By this point nothing should really count after 7, yeah?

1) SS
2) TC/TGF
4)MJ/TDTH/MTV Unplugged

I am willing and able to slide any new LIVE into the list above. Just give it to me.

1. Throwing copper - Easily slides into first.
2. MJ - So much meaning!! doesn't translate to being performed live very well if you have ever heard ed belt mirror song.
3. S.S. below the rest because the songs seem to lack the common strain that linked the first two. The songs are still gold though.
4. TDTH & V - I can't rank one above the other. TDTH has wfg and sparkle but The dolphin's cry and the distance just drag the album down. I can't believe they chose the dolphin's cry for the single. V is just plain fun and wasn't meant to be a real album. They messed up the cover and chose a dumb name which drags it down. The energy, the experiment, the drugs, the FORCING themselves into the spotlight for a moment tell a story that the other albums don't and I remember this each time I hear ed say that line about making a midget grow.
5. DOAD - Oh god, paper flowers... this song gets NO TALK here. I love most of the songs on this album but it's rough and raw. It also features live's worst song (well, home was bad too) Ball and chain. That song is a trainwreck. Once again live gets the last song wrong.
6. TGF - Good... but honestly (no pun) forgettable. I know sing, trecidim, and honest man but the rest just don't wander into my head to make me pick up the album. The give one hell of a live show though!!
7. BoP - Once again, I don't ever recall any songs that make me want to pick it up. the closest I get is lighthouse but then I remember that that song isn't as good as anything on TC so I pick up TC instead. All around forgettable. I remember being in denial that heaven was a pro-religion song... oh how blind I was facepalm.gif
8. Alive - Great title but a lukewarm set of songs. Very forgettable and Ed's people made a blatant money grab by leaving off the best songs (eat your love and new world) and making us illegally download them. If not for representing the destruction of live 1.0 This would be even with BoP for me. Zion was alright... the acoustic version of that and everlasting love had me excited but he messed up both.
9. SFBM - Shameful. We were all in denial when we thought NoN was a good song. I can't believe I paid money for it. Alive is heaps better though on a good note. The real terrible thing about this album is just how often these songs got played live on the tour... Ed really loved these songs and most of them got played at some point. WHY??

I'm not putting RS or Alive on here... those aren't albums.
