I don't have any problem giving Ed credit and appreciating him for all the great music he made up to and including TDTH. I darn near worship the man for it. Have you ever seen me gush about how MJ is one of the greatest masterpiece albums of all time and TSUFL makes me weep like a school girl when Live would play it in concert - even in 2009? It is his crappy free-fall decline as a person and a creative artist that have a problem with. No double standard here. I don't think I could me more clear for the OP to understand.

indeed. Though I dont weep during TSFUFL. But Where Fishes GO is one of my favourite Live songs (hard to choose one) but with a gun to my head I would choose it. So ya the new Ed started showing his new self in TDTH but he was still brilliant. And then there is also Feel the quiet river rage! I would also put this one in my top 10 ! and kick anyone in the balls for disagreeing. imo of coursew lol

As for the rockers on TDTH, we've heard there were more and the ones we got were toned down. FTQQR, WFG, Meltdown and WWITD are super songs!!!

Yeah, I was just listening to the alternate version of WFG earlier and was stunned with how raw it was. The album version was too synthesized, IMO. They should've let that beast out more.

TDTH is a very well-written and performed album, but it's my least favorite of all the pre-V albums. The songs are better than MJ's songs, but MJ seemed to have a much more earnest drive to it. Very raw, very balls-to-the-wall. Like you say, TDTH seemed to be tamed a bit.

The B-Sides to TDTH just show how much more of a rockin album it could have been. WFG is a sick song, that I hope Live plays again. An awesome opener in my opinion.

TDTH is Ed's masterpiece. If the label weren't hell bent on pushing the softer side of it all, we'd have had an album with Vine Street and Don't Wait on it. And that would have been incredible.
