LIVE is eligible for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2016.

Remember, artists are eligible for the Rock Hall 25 years after the release of their first record (LP, EP or single), but the induction ceremony itself takes place the following year. Click to express your opinion on their chances for the Rock Hall.

(For the record, Candlebox is eligible in 2018.

How many bands get inducted per year? I'd bet that Pearl Jam will get inducted in 2016.

When such huge acts and pioneers such as Deep Purple, Iron Maiden and Rush are snubbed for so many years you know that place is a joke.

Yeah, that's why I mentioned them. I was looking at the list of bands who were eligible for entry in 2016 (located on the bottom left hand side of the page you linked) seeing who Live were up against.

If they sneak in, they sneak in, but I really can't see Live being inducted, they're just honestly not that big a deal to most folks, just the way it is. But the thing is, I don't care, the whole R&R HOF is just a joke anyways, if you make good music and enjoy doing it, make enough money to sustain your lifestyle and your family and make whatever fanbase you have very happy - that's all you can really ask for from music. I see Live as a working class band, they're not the huge idols that many that enter the HOF are seen as, I'm happy with that personally. I don't think they need that kind of validation to know how much they mean to the people they've touched. I couldn't ever imagine myself campaigning for something like this either.

Exactly. The bands I mentioned above, some of the musicians themselves have said they couldn't care less about being in there.

Some here might want to put Live on a pedestal that is set 50 feet high in an arena for all the marvel at with spectacular light shows going on and a red carpet entrance and all the publicity in the world, epic gestures and arena sized sing-alongs where every step of the performance is rehearsed - fuck that, give me a 500-1000 capacity venue with a dingy bar at the side and rock music so loud it melts my face, that's what I want from Live. No frills.

Well, grammy ain't that cool either, though dozens of bands cherish those. And on the other hand, Stone Gossard keeps em in his closet.

What I am saying is, HOF has zillions of names inducted which I never heard of. So why not go for Live?

Not gonna happen. I love Live, don't get me wrong, but when I think of the Hall of Fame I think (perhaps improperly) of what makes the band unique and what special contribution have they made to the world of music.

Pearl Jam was one of those bands that was on the forefront of the whole "alternative/grunge" (I HATE those terms) revolution of the early 90's. They have also stayed around and have remained popular (a relative term) for many, many years.

The same cannot be said of Live. When you think of bands that shaped the early 90's popular music scene, Live is not on that list. They were sort of the wave that came after. Yes, I know Mental Jewelry was out in '92 (technically 1991, wasn't it released on Dec 31st?), but they didn't really make an impact whatsoever until Throwing Copper. And by that time, they were not really pioneers of the genre but one of the popular bands that followed.

Also, as we all know, they dropped way off throughout their career. Your average music fan probably has no idea what Live has done since at least 2000.

I just don't see a compelling argument for the HOF, even though I personally love the music, listen to it every day, and play it on guitar every day.

am i the only one here that's here to talk about Live? oh well

I don't believe in god, but i think Live rocks. easily my favorite Christian Rock Band (second being Vertical Horizon, third being Creed).

but i just don't think they were iconic enough to be considered.
