You know what surprised me? I get the meaning of LC and etc, but I really got tired of it over the years.

And now, with the injection of new blood, it sounds so refreshingly up-to-date, it started speaking to me again! Incredible!

Today is the first day of my working out, I onow what I'll be spinning lifting weights!

Rihanna, for sure.

BAHAHAHA

QUOTE(OutToDry @ Mar 20 2012, 4:11 pm) *

I just listened to them all back to back 4 times. They're amazing. All in his own vocal voice and his way. Lots of background harmonies from the guys....songs are breathing. Such a wonderful refreshing take on what was and is still great.....another piece of greatness!! His I Alone, STD and LC are super!!! Now....onto the new songs, and the additional re-records!!!

Only 4 times OTD? You can do better than that! stickouttongue.gif

My favorite of the new songs is Selling The Drama, but they're all great. However, the song I'm most hoping they've recorded and will put up is Lakini's Juice. I gotta hear that one.

Ok listened to the rest like I alone and selling the drama a lot!!!!

Makes me excited as to what could come!!!

Volume of vocals could be a fraction higher but it also depends on equalizer setups i guess.

LC is still a bit disappointing to me but lets face it that is old Live's biggest achievement and greatest work hard to match that.

Bring on the new album!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Songs sound good, the little tweaks are very nice! However, I was already sold on Chris being the vocalist having heard him live so I don't feel like I'm the primary audience for these tracks.

Now, if I hear some of the b-sides with Chris on vocals like this, or even a snippet of a new song... omg.gif

Yep. Bring on the new shit and the b-sides. The re-records were definitely a nice appetizer, but now bring on the main course.

My thoughts on the new (old) tracks, not that anyone particularly cares:

To me the instruments in the tracks seemed to be mixed higher (guitars up) am I just crazy? I haven't directly compared the mixes.

I think Chris breaths new life into the band. It's apparent they didn't want to mess with the tracks much. Chris replicates many of the subtle nuances that make the songs original. I think he has more growl and angst than Ed (even the 1994 Ed) but he doesn't have that whisper that only 1994 Ed has. The opening verse to Lightning Crashes shows this. When I first listened to it I thought that they should take it down. That thought went away as the 2nd verse concluded. Chris nailed the chorus and bridge (Oh I....). I realize that Live has to incorporate this song into their set. It is leaps and bounds the most recognizable and well known Live track but it's also the one that feels the most off, or different.

It seems that the rest of the tracks they're focusing on are the more "rocking" tracks, which is a good decision. Chris is incredible with AOY, STD and IA. I imagine he's even better with the harder songs. I'd personally like to hear Stage, Heropsychodreamer, Don't Wait, and perhaps Vine Street.

The best part of these new (old) tracks is that the man were hearing on vocals sounds great, but it's a man in 2012. In concert this is what were going to get. In bootlegs this is what we're going to get. In concert videos and recordings this is what were going to get. We don't have to listen to 1994 recordings and reminisce about the good ol' days knowing that the upcoming Live show that we're going to attend is going to have a vocalist that it is going to bring it instead of "la da da da", cheesy smiles, and shirtlessness.

I disagree on LC, the more I listen to it, the more I like it - I'm definitely getting that old feeling with it.

Stage would sound amazing with Shinn, I think.

Here here on your last thought - how long have all of us been listening to old bootlegs desperately wishing for that magic to reappear? In the post-V era, I'd go to a Live show and I'd get excited for it, but in the back of mind I knew it wasn't quite the same. I'm actually considering the idea of getting completely psyched for a show now without hesitation.

Lightning Crashes sounds like the bad karoke that you get on On Demand on my cable service.

No reason to re-record awesome songs only to make them worse. Messing with classic studio recordings is never pretty.
