In regards to the upcoming 8th studio album I really don't have any concerns about vocals (Chris Shinn can sing) or the music (CCP proved they still have it with TGF), but I do have a question about the lyrics.

Since MJ Live has featured lyrics that revolve around religion, faith, and of course Water, Water, Water. Obviously Ed was the driving force behind it (and he drove it into the ground).

As Live shakes up the lineup I'm really curious to see now only how the sound of Live changes but also how the message of Live changes. I'm assuming that the lyrics the band will record will change in a big way (and I'm not saying that is bad at all).

It will be interesting to hear not only how Chris sounds with them on an album but also it will be really interesting to hear what they actually write about.

Yeah it's going to be interesting to hear although I wouldn't expect massive departures as CCP would have had to choose someone who would fit in with the Live philosophy. But who knows really, it actually to me is probably the most interesting aspect of Live now - what are the words I'll soon find myself singing along to?

I would think the new music has no choice but to rock seeing how there is now two monster guitars and a creative writing process heavily influenced bt CCP. No worries here.

I'm not worried about the music, but the words have had constant themes. I'm curious to see if they abandon they lyrical messages of all of the previous albums now that Ed is out of the picture.

I'd actually be shocked if new Live songs were lyrically similar to old Live songs.

The possibilities are endless with their new lineup. No chance this album does not rock hard as hell.

I don't disagree, Hood. I'm pretty condident the music and the lyrics are gonna be good. I just want my face melted off. Is that too much to ask?

Just as the music is going in a "fresh" direction now, the lyrics will as well. Chris is his own person. He's lived his own life and has his own experiences that have no doubt influenced his point of view. I'm expecting a bit of a "culture shock" (best way to describe it), mostly because I'm not familiar with Chris' work at all. I have no idea what inspires him or what his point of view is on anything.

Might be good idea for people really wondering about what the lyrics will be like to get a copy of his solo album just to get a rough idea...

EDIT - Listening to a couple songs on his Facebook page and the words seem like they cut more to a point or have a narrower focus. That's just my surface impression of them though. Who knows what his writing sessions with CCP have been like and what those sessions have brought out of him?

You mean the 5th studio album, because the last 3 certainly don't count.

So... what you're saying is that they should name the title of this upcoming album V.2?

Chad Taylor stated that there may not be a new LIVE album, and they may release their new material in other ways. So wait and see....

SS is one of my favorite rock albums too.
I like TC a bit more, but if the new album sounds like SS it would be freakin awesome.
