I only write Live 1.0 and Live 2.0 when it is necessary to make the distinction between Live when Ed was the lead singer and Live when Chris is the lead singer. Otherwise, I intend not to make the distinction. If I ever do it when it is not necessary to make a distinction for clarity, then it is inadvertant.

There should be no doubt. The band that I saw perfrom Monday night was Live. And it got me more excited to listen to my old Live albums and look forward to a new Live album and look forward to upcoming concerts than I have been in a long, long time. And I could give a sh*t whether they sell lots of albums or sell lots of tickets or whether people leave the concert if they don't see a bald head on stage. I know how I will feel about it. And Live is my passion - which just kicked up a few hundred notches.

The version of LIVE that created timeless music and sold over 20 millions is no more. You can't replace the chief songwriter/frontman with a journeyman singer and pretend it is the same band.

What a rush reading this entire thread late on a thursday afternoon. Fish mate, FANTASTIC photography. You should be Live's official touring photographer. Funkyrecaboose, you clearly are a professional article writer, no? That write-up deserves publication, man that was inspiring and top shelf. And Good Pain's review; intimate and joyful! Didn't realise your history with this band and community was so involved. It almost makes me embarrassed of the stupid drunken posts and flippancy i so frequently expose everyone to!

Whats going on here is almost like a dream. Im at the point where i wont be embarrassed telling my friends that Live is my favorite band. Who woulda thunk it a few years ago? That a little rock band from smalltown USA could, 25 years on, generate this kind of passion, energy and love of the only fucking thing that matters, the music!

I LOVE the fact that this massive homecoming event can be celebrated yet also honestly criticized by true fans and not degenerate into spiteful negativity. The new singer screwed up some lyrics, was nervous, lost his way in places, yet here on these forums we hold him up on our shoulders like a sporting champion that has just taken home the championship trophy! We WANT him to succeed, we WANT him to lead this Live army into battle and be inspired. The setlist left some to be desired, the closer could have been different, we aknowledge but go on the journey WITH THEM and can talk openly about our feelings without there being an atmosphere of taking sides and being politically correct about the whole affair.

Nick im sorry, but you can clearly see in this thread that we are capable of healthily criticizing our "idols" if you can even call them that. Whereas you cant even bring yourself to say that Ed screws up here and there, its all light and rainbows with you when it comes to him. This chris Shinn dude fucked up at times and thats a beautiful thing. The dude was playing live songs on his guitar as a kid. Now he's in the fucking band!!! I would KILL for that opportunity if i could sing or play a guitar or write a song or get a weird ass haircut!!! How many times ive sung TDAOC in the mirror when shitfaced imagining i was the singer in front of a sea of people, and this motherfucker got to do it and motherfucking owned! I hope he reads this thread and sees the support he actually has and gains a shitload of confidence from that, because at least then it wont be misplaced confidence like the other guy. honestly the guy doesnt bother me. i find it all pretty funny, only because this new incarnation of our band is actually shaping up to be really good, so how can he bother ya? Its like 1000 people watching the sunset at the beach marveling at its beauty, and one loopy fucker is running up and down the shore yelling "it's horrible dont watch aaaahhhhggg", who in their right mind would stop and say "hey he's right". everybody just keeps watching that sun set.
