Live to perform Mystery on American Idol Options

I've watched American Idol every year since it came on. I can't remember if they always have a well known band "play" on the finale. Can anyone else recall a band playing?

Last year they had Lynrd Skynrd playing with Bo Bice. I'm sure I spelled the bands name wrong, but you get the idea.

As far as I knew EVERY band has a single from their c.d. on the radio for the 'shiney happy people' including myself. I'm not sure any band puts out a single that isn't radio friendly.

You 'guess' it's good exposure for Live? 50 million people. I don't think that's 'too bad'. The AI audience is not made up of just 13 year old girls. I'm sure the average age would surprise you. And if they want to 'appeal' to the masses is that a bad thing? Getting exposure and making new fans and selling a few more c.d.s? If you feel they're selling out that's your call.

And if somebody wanted to use their song for a commercial is that the crime of the century?

I mean who are we to say? Who are we to be so judgemental?

You do have the right to your opinion. If you feel you were insulted or I was being rude that's your problem.

Your post didn't sound real positive and all I'm saying is that if your a true fan you support them 100%. You don't have to bash them for their choices or decisions.

I'm fairly new to this board also but you'll never hear me questioning the band or bitching about how bad V is or how I hate this song or that song or why they did or didn't do something or any of the other countless complaints around here.

I've loved them for 15 years and will continue to until they stop recording. And even then I'll keep on loving them.

They only want to be radio friendly now? I could've swore they were radio friendly back in the mid 90's. Or did you complain then too?

OK, what band doesn't want to be on the radio. What band doesn't want to make money by getting air play and exposure? And this sell out thing you talk about....this is the year 2006 look around you, bands are in Ads and on cheezy shows everywhere you look. What is so bad about a band putting their song in a commercial? Again would you turn down money just because you don't wanna be a "sell out"? I hate that term it is so stupid and holds no meaning in today society. They are in a business to make a living. And thats what they are doing right now. If you don't like it, thats your problem not theirs.

I just listened to it on fansoflive mp3. It is actually a pretty good song. I can see Chris and Ed jamming the song on Wednesday!!!!
It will be a great jam!!

I am listening to it right now too. While the other contestants will be singing old songs with older groups (Meatloaf, Bob Segar), Chris will be doing jamming with Live on a brand new song. Chris is truly what made AI this year CURRENT and interesting.

Thanks to the poster who pointed us to the mp3of "Mystery" from the fans of live website. I do not know Live from a hole in the ground, except from researching them after the "Walk the Line" controversy, but man, if Chris and Live do that song ("Mystery") on the finale and Live then releases it as a single (sans Chris of course) I bet it will be a huge hit!!!!!

the music is already there & now they have the opportunity to expose lots of people to it that would never otherwise listen to them. that is a good thing. to me, selling out is when your writing with the sole intent of making a buck instead of writing from the heart. regardless of what anyone thinks of SFBM, i believe ed is writing from his heart & that is just where he is right now in his life.

Will Mystery be released on Itunes this week? If so, expect it to skyrocket. There has been no info of this being released as a single. I guess it should be out on Thursday though? I hope this all clears up soon!

As fans, we can express positive AND negative reactions. It's not always one-sided and happy and if it were, that wouldn't be real. In fact, it'd be phony.

I can't stand fans who are always "looking at things on the bright side" policing those who have a difference of opinion and tend to be on the negative side. There's nothing wrong with it. It's called being human.

No one HAS to support them in their decisions 100%. No one.

Who are we do be judgemental? We, the consumer, that's who. We, the hardcore fans, have kept this band from fading away completely. We're the ones who help them make their millions. We have a right to express how we feel...and that doesn't make me or anyone else less of a fan than you.

It's a message board. Get over it.

Maybe you want everyone to have a carbon copy viewpoint. I am just as much as a fan as everyone else. I came to this board verses SOY beccause I did not like the censorship. I comepletely respect if someone has a different than mine...sometimes I even evolve and change my opinions when there is an open friendly discussion w/o saying "oh that's your problem" and oh you are a "fan" that irks me.

Part of being part of a music forum is being able to talk about things without people being rude. I am going to take a little break now because you have really been nasty.

I really hoped that I would be able to be a little provacative and go out on a limb a little bit around with out being treated so poorly.

If you wanted to scare people away from this board, you have suceeded.

Well Valleygirl I don't really wanna see you leave the board because of anyone. I know I've disagreed with you a lot in this topic but thats fine if you have a diffrent opinion. I try not to be too abrasive and call names, but sometimes I guess I can come off a bit harsh, its not my intentions. We are all here for one reason +LIVE+ and we all have diffrent opinions about their music and what they should do with their careers when none of it really matters because we aren't the band. But it should be fun to discuss, agree and disagree with people. So please don't leave stay around and have a good time with the people who are actually very friendly.

I went back and read my post again and maybe you should also.
I have no clue where the "rude, insulting, nasty and abbrasive", comments come from.
Maybe you are confusing me with metsownyou or whomever.
I don't recall any name calling or curse words and such.
If you're this sensitive I'll just quit replying to you so you don't leave. That was not my intention.
Unless I read it wrong you are the one who complained about Live being on American Idol and appealing to the masses and getting exposure. And then chided them if they were to have a song of theirs on a commercial.

Wow, this is a really low point for Live performing on this cheesy Karaoke show. Looking on the bright side though, at least they aren't like Fuel, who actually offered that no talent assclown Chris Daughtry a job as their new lead singer.
