Live - Strand Theater 3/12/2012, First Show - Dress Rehearsal Celebration!! Options

Chad Taylor gave a nice speech about how important the City of York is and how important the fans are.



He said that basically the entire city counsel has appeared at their not-so-secret-anymore lair where they rehearse and that York would be proud because their representatives can really drink! (I am sure he must have been kidding).

They ended the show with TBD. I never thought I would get to hear that in concert. Patrick was awesome. At some point, I think right before White Discussion, Kevin ran out and grabbed the mic and said "Ladies and Gentlemen I present to you Live!" And then he ran off. It was pretty hilarious. After TBD, they just left the stage and the lights came up and that was it. It was kind of weird that they didn't bow or waive or anything. I was also surprised that they played NOTHING from Mental Jewelry.

So about the show and the performance. Obviously the band sounded great. It is so awesome to have Sean Hennessy in the band. I have no idea who the keyboard player is. I actually didn't even really hear the keyboards at all so I don't know what is going on their.

I liked that Chad and the keyboard player were engaging with backing vocals quite a bit. It sounded good.

Chris sounds great. he is not at all doing an Ed impression. He is just singing with his voice. He has a great voice. Great range. He can hit high notes without it breaking and without any falsetto. If I had to compare it to Ed's voice, I would say that Chris has a nicer voice and he gives it more energy. What he doesn't have is that unique characteristic of Ed's voice that is only Ed's. For that reason, I really wish that Live would stay away from Lightening Crashes. When they performed it with Ed, I always felt like that woman in the front row on the Paradiso DVD. It is just Ed's voice. And that song is so huge and so associated with Ed, that they should just not try it. I think that should also stay away from things like Turn My Head, etc. But the big sounding rock n' roll is all fair game and it is all right on target with Chris. He nails it. He performs it like it was supposed to be performed. This is not Christian adult contemporary music. This is rock n' roll. Look it up.

WOW...I really had some idea what was happening last night...BUT SEAN??? SERIOUSLY???
That kid is one of THE BEST guitar players out there!
take CHRIS SHINN ADD SEAN HENNESY....and before you do ...step back and really take a look at the SKILLS
and think about their talent...in silence...shhhh
what these 2 guys can bring to the table!

now add, THE heart & soul of +LIVE+, C,C,P, down to earth, ROCKIN MO FO's, no over inflated ego's, and what do you get??

REVIEW;
arrived in York early for a meeting, got that over, hooked up with the FREAKSOFLIVE (fol) and off we went to check out York, chatted with Matt Gracey out back of venue for a bit , taking a break from setting up
Saw Sean on the corner and BS with him for awhile, some photos, talking golf, guitar
met GRACEY and THE THRILL @ the Yorktown Inn , they stopped and chatted, some pics
went to White Rose for lunch and back to get ready
arrived @ Strand 5:30 and in the door and the Spread these guys put out THINK LOUD (food) was AMAZING!!
ran into more FREAKS and we had some cocktails and headed towards the doors,
waited when THE THRILL arrived and we where escorted into venue ahead of 1200 other poor saps!! THRILL
Front and center, we hung out until Adam Taylor with FULL BAND hit the stage, played alot of GREAT stuff, NEW YORK, LUCY, OLIVER and more...I LOVE LOVE his band and Katie is just such a cool kid and talented singer.
Dana Alexander was next, 1st time to see her and she ROCKED out with her band, impressed, ended with Heart Breaker by Pat Benetar
next up CANDLEBOX acoustic with Kevin & Sean, what can you say about that talent on stage, acoustic and I never heard a BETTER version of FAR BEHIND, then I did last night...BLOWN away.....Sean licks on acoustic ...WOW ....and KM , I am a HUGE fan.,....invited me to play with him TGF in Ephrata remember

so...the lights go down, the room is somewhat hazed
the BASS kicks in....
out they come and WTF...there is SEAN on stage with LIVE....we kinda all knew it might have been CS??
here comes C,C,P and then here comes CHRIS SHINN...
let me state, I like CS old music AND new music he has put out!

Im not really going to get into all the songs.....so here;

THEY KICKED ASS..thats how +LIVE+ should be played!!!!!
..yes....once in a while CS struggled with the lyrics...that is normal...I know some singers who "write" the lyrics and STILL can't remember their own lyrics. he is a grrrrreat guy also and no overinflated ego...

BUT - we knew all along this was a DRESS REHEARSAL so a mistake was BOUND (all pun intended) to be made.....CS was a little angry at himself sometimes and he DID look at us various times (he knows me from FB)for support and I felt that and knew it when he came up to me and invited me on stage to sing "though it leaves me quite erect"....I was stoked!!! WOW. a dream I had always wished for to one day be on stage with these guys!!!!

I was really blown away!
with a few more sessions under their belt, these guys are going to be some VERY SERIOUS PLAYERS in the music indu$try...

CHAD, CHAD and PATRICK all where SPOT ON!!! incredible energy on stage, they are READY!!!!!

GRACEY....I shouted NO PLEXIGLASS to his pleasure...calm, cool, normal guy, ROCK STAR!!
PATRICK...looks like he been hitting the gym and having a good time up there
TAYLOR...looked GREAT also...in the STOMP IS BACK BABY!

the baby powder and light show was incredible...the whole night was incredible..the whole day was incredible

after show, ran into Chris who we got some pics with and BS, then off to White Rose with freaks
hung and chatted with Kevin Martin (told me he was gonna let me open for Candlebox @ Croc Roc),
Chris came in and sat down also with his posse.......
thats when I gave him the silver +LIVE+ guitar pic pendent I had on my neck...he deserved it!!!
(just had 2 made for me and Deb) he was stoked !!


back to hotel, up 5 am off to work!
would not have missed it for the world!
