Agreed, the first two rows gave him tons of love and energy though! Anybody got an Advil?

Thanks for the review funky! thumbsup.gif

Big question: how was Lakini's Juice and did CT dust off Ruby Lou?

I survived... barely. The energy and excitement of that show last night damn near killed me! I am busy at work this morning and it will take time to write a proper review and post pictures. I did get photos! Mostly of Chris because he was the only one properly lit for photos in the spotlight most of the night. Between writing up a review and processing and loading photos, I have a lot of work ahead of me. I have to figure out how to put this thing I just experienced into words. Believe me, for those of you who were not able to be there - this expereince is hard to put into words...

Fishy! You made it bruv!

I listened to the very few clips that are referenced in this thread, and I have to say I like what I hear.

I think Chris Shinn sounds enough like Ed so that the songs still sound like the songs, and different enough from Ed that he is putting his own stamp on the material. I think that is EXACTLY what you hope for when you replace a lead singer.

If the new guy isn't able to pull off what the old guy used to do, then how can you play the old material? And if you can't play the old material, then you have a new band.

I can't give much of an opinion because its based on only a few seconds of live material, plus the track that was leaked out earlier. But I definitely like what I heard and I will be listening...

Great review with proper context, funky. Thanks.

Contrary to what Live's press release says though, they continued to perform together until July 2009, although Ed started doing solo shows from December 2008. I guess mentally that indicates the split but technically they did 18 more shows from there.

(I tried to keep track of the EK vs Live vs TGF tour dates, list is now in the Archive: http://web.archive.org/web/20100928061843/...tueel/tour.php)

I can't find a list...??

Yeah I'm anxious to hear how he balances all this stuff too, wonder if he drops something?

Yeah that's awesome news that Sean is in, any more info on this DJ/Synth/Drum Loop thing that was mentioned, it seemed like no one outright called him a keyboardist, so what was his role, what did he add to to things? Funky said it was really subtle though I guess.

He played some loops from a mac, did some percussion, if he ever played the keyboard I didn't hear it but we weren't in the best spot to catch the full sound.

It was interesting, I think it's a great move to move the sound forward while also taking it back to the '90s. Since it's a term some of you guys have been throwing around, makes them less of a legacy band.

DJ Z or something - no disrespect just too lazy to look up his name.

He was having a good time back there. Dancing, playing some guitar, loops, singing backup and synths (very subtle). Nothing over the top that would take away from the songs.

Interesting move, I didn't like the keyboard era, of course the songs that were written with keyboards in mind weren't as bad, but trying to put keys into White Discussion or POD was just wrong. So something more subtle, just to give things a little extra depth or fill out the sound a little more could be really interesting if done right.
