QUOTE(SJN1279 @ Mar 13 2012, 1:41 pm) *

If there was ever a time to not play all the hits, it was a hometown show filled with family members and invitation only fans. LIVE 2.0 is no different from Journey, Foreigner, or any other legacy act with a new singer. Pokey's double standard is alive and well.

ASSJN1279, you should read the whole thread again, not with only one eye and with the other on ED's Head.

+LIVE+ themself said in their interview that they want to protect the new material, and right they are, as snippets of material of last night show already slipped onto the internet.

Taylor said Live is working on new material, but in an effort to keep any new tunes off YouTube, the band stuck to its hits Monday.

This is from the following Interview, READ IT: http://www.ydr.com/living/ci_20157079/lives-new-lead-singer

We tried it dude, it only works if EVERYONE does it and no one quotes him because it still shows up. I've said it before, you can't ignore a fly crawling on your face, you try to swat it, he's a fly that needs to be swatted, ie removed from the board. Its hard because he's not just "giving his opinions" as he says, he has an agenda. I'm sure there are some people (maybe) here who don't agree with everything CCP do, I have my own limits as to things I think they could do better, it's not about which act you like more as we have plenty of Ed fans here and no one has a problem with them. He's masking it that he's not doing anything wrong, I can easily ignore someone's regular opinion if it differs from mine, thats the way the world is. This, is not that.

I tried, but now he is acusing someone with double standards, and I don't like that.

He just should read before he writes. But all he does is provoking!

He himself is a contradiction of a double standard.

The other day he was talking about how this is a new chapter and we shouldn't compare, now on certain things he wants to compare, basically - compare when it suits him, don't compare when it doesn't. and I'M the one with double standards now? Jesus Christ lol

Not to mention in this VERY thread, its an absolute disgrace that CS read from a lyrics sheet, but its fine when Ed does it. The guy is just not a rational functioning human being, and surely if he was, and he was making sense and a valid argument then EVERY SINGLE FUCKING PERSON wouldn't be disagreeing with him.

Dan, Nick and the people arguing with Nick make this thread unreadable for people actually wanting information. That is frustrating. Hell I was there, I know what happened, and it frustrates me.

I'm doing an official write up on the show this AM but I'll give my unofficial thoughts sometime - in brief I was thoroughly freaking impressed. Anyone whose read my posts knows that I was a little hesitant about the idea despite being a fan of Chris for years and of course a huge fan of the guys.

Well, I was wrong.

Wow! Where to begin? I'll give a brief review of the show and I hope that it's not too similar to what's already been posted.

Big thanks to The Thrill and to Z for getting me up front. It's something that I will always remember and at times I just caught my self soaking it all in.

To hear DAOC as the opener instantly took me back to the good old days. Mixing in Freaks, Sparkle and TBD with the hits shows that the guys want to give the fans something a little different then the "cookie cutter" set list of years past. Of course it would have been great to hear some new songs, but I completely get the reason for not playing them last night.

Even with some shaky moments (as expected) Shinn delivered and as Dancing Queen mentioned he seemed to be really excited and honored to be on stage with his new band. His vocal range is bananas. Once he gets 100% comfortable with the back catalog watch out because he will knock it out of the park. Memphis' solos were crazy and added another element to some of our favorites. He's juggling a lot of bands right now, but if he's down for the challenge then bring it! The future of Live seems to be heading in the right direction and I for one am psyched to be along for their new journey.

Great meeting everyone last night and I look forward to seeing everyone again at some future shows. Rupe and Funky - you guys are nuts for driving back to VA Beach last night. Hopefully Funky did not sleep the entire way home.

It's frustrating, and on my behalf I apologise, but I can't for the love of god tolerate him.

Either way, very interested in hearing your full review of the show, you always give great technical insight I find and so I'm keen to hear. I love as a musician you give those sorts of technical insights and Fishie handles the deep emotional side of things, couple that with the reviews we've already had and maybe we'll come close to feeling like we were there too! Thank God Honest Man wasn't played huh? tongue.gif

It is is a shame that Nick is the sole reason why some people have stopped being a part of this board. Really no reason for all of it other then immaturity.

Brief review..

Was it "perfect"? In a technical, lyrically correct, sense .... No. (I think I messed up the words to TDAOC blush.gif )

Was it "perfect" - in a take-a-day-off-from-work, spend-10-hours-in-a-small-car-with-a-stranger, get-lost-in-York, ear-busting, fuck-yeah sense. Oh hell yeah it was perfect.

It seems one person on this board keeps forgetting that this was a "dress rehearsal", meant to re-introduce the band to its loyal friends and supporters. It was never supposed to be a polished ready-for-tour gig. They rocked. They made mistakes. But they (and we) loved every friggin second of it. Chris fits, and not just as a new singer, but as a new band member. I expect he will grow into it and make it his own, so that folks see him up there, and not just "the guy in Ed's place".

Big THANKS to The Thrill and Zman for hooking us up!! Nice meeting y'all.

In case you're wondering, driving 4-1/2 hours home sux.

I really don't want to post this and fuel the fire, but Nick, here is your hero raping a page of lyrics for a song that is decades old during an ACTUAL show. Not a rehearsal.

Ed does sometimes read lyrics when he covers other people's songs.
