A nice article from a Blind Melon fan site. A lot of good stuff about Shinn's influence on his old band Unified Theory that makes me so excited to hear what he brings to the table on the new LIVE songs.

Thanks for the article. Really interesting concerning his writing process. I really think CS can bring something different to the new songs. The article says he is from the Jeff Buckley or Radiohead universe. Good references imo. I hope something a new album with the taste of Secret Samadhi...

this will be interesting to see where shinn will take the lyric from here on in. Live's lyrics (when they were actually introspective and thought provoking), have always been a large part (not the ONLY part) of my enjoyment of the music.

Having said that, it can only get better from "mamma braiding your sweet hair". ugh

Yeah I'm curious to see what he comes up with. Like I said in the acceptance thread, it's not like he's taking over from the guy that wrote Operation Spirit, he's taking over from the guy that wrote The River, not a hard act to follow!

During the Candlebox set when Kevin was talking about Live and the new lead singer he mentioned that Chris has a voice from the heavens. Sounds like Chris is well respected in a little music city called Seattle.

Chris Shinn

His voice was perfect for Unified Theory, and would allow Live's songs to breathe a little, which is what CC&P want. Plus it would be different enough from Ed's to avoid comparisons. Also his band, Everything Is Energy is awesome (Listen to "Real Easy").

I was the first fan to know, other than the band themselves and a few close associates! I was told in March 2011. The girl who posted on FB it was CS, where Yoda tried to interject knowing, had a good inference.
