Age, no, but experience, yes. Obviously these guys had been playing longer, had more experience, and had had more time to learn about music when they wrote V than when they wrote mental jewelry...so obviously you'd expect the musician to be better on V than on mental jewelry. It was not, and that's what was so disappointing about it.
