Hey, Ed's a pretty smart guy, so he thinks anyway. He seems like a very intelligent person to seek out the meaning of it all. So here's the rub.......Live is a paradox in terms of success, popularity, their deep brotherly bond which allowed their music to transcend the masses. The music in their early years, the collaboration of true brothers!!! Ah it was great. Maybe as the Thrill says....door's open, but the prodigal son must go through his life trials to see where he may have messed up. The New Live will approach us with much skepticism, but I think open minds will find what they're looking for. I wanted to take a glance over Live's history of popularity and success, and mix in the hidden variable which ultimately did in this brotherhood. I took to a little scientific research and figured it all out!!! I wish I had a sacrafont....but here goes.

QUOTE(briburge @ Feb 28 2012, 2:42 pm) *

thats it totally. if ed just left i dont think i would feel the way i do. the fact that it was aired out in public gave me a bad taste. i did not like v,bop, sfbm near as much as the first four albums. i think they were better when it was a cohesive unit. i dont dispute that. the post break up makes me sick and it has turned into me feeling like ed's nonsense whatever it is (ls bonus, coffee, whatever) does not compare to airing it in public. like if a husband bangs hookers and the wife tells the kids, she is more crazy for her actions. that may sound silly but that is how i see it and why i come to eds defense. i am not 100 percent behind his music and anti ccp i just dont like how this played out. its hard for me to get over like its hard for everyone to get over the ed stuff.

For the record, I am pissed at all of them for not giving me the studio version of Hold Me Up.

Airing it out in public was a bad idea, however, I don't see how that even remotely supersedes what Ed did with the contract, singer bonus, etc. This is the second reference I've seen to kids. We're all adults here. I don't see why it's so hard to handle what was aired out. It happened. It sucks. It probably should have been kept in house. I get the bad taste thing, but again, I don't see how airing it out is as bad as the act. Or, keeping the band together was somehow enabling Ed to be how he was. No, Ed chose to do what he did. There are consequences. It just so happens that a lot of people know what he did and they voice their opinions on it. Either way, the band would be done based on what Ed did even if it hadn't been aired out. The band was pretty much done anyway, before the contract stuff was discovered. CCP weren't going to work in that environment anymore, Ed didn't want to either.

Airing it in a public way might not have been such a good idea had people not started spreading even worse rumors and lies.

Glad you think that way, I completely disagree smile.gif

If nothing was said or brought to light then to me that is Ed getting off way too lightly for all the shit he's pulled. Nah you don't get to do all that and get away with it and not have it brought to light. Who are to judge? Who is anyone to judge, that's such a stupid saying because if you think we shouldn't judge Ed's punishment then how far do you extend that logic, you shouldn't judge CT's actions the way you are, who the hell are you to judge him?!?! In the end if you're in the public eye you're gonna be judged. That's something we all gotta accept my judgement will be different to the next person's. To me this is what I believe, that dragging him through the mud is what he deserves. You obviously feel differently.

chad's public comments and posts about ed hurt everyone in the band. fact.

and only barely more than Ed's silence on the matter...
(of course I understand the inability to comment on anything with litigation pending, but surely by now there has to be something Ed could say on the matter) (I can hear you "well of course he has nothing to say, the truth is already out, he's a douche..." probably, but it's impossible to know unless we were there.

no, that's not what I meant... it goes without saying that the actual bad deeds are the worst of the things that have happened (in as much as we can know that they happened since none of us were there and we have only heard one side of the story (albeit a reliable side of the story)).

i dont give a fuck about what live does behind the scenes regarding money, bonus, whatever. the doors splitting 25 percent each doesnt make the song break on through sound better. i dont want to hear about it. i am not saying what is worse morally, i am saying as a fan i dont want to hear about it.

No one is making you... It's their lives, to them it is life, they can play it out how they want, if you want to pay attention to that or tune out to that it's on you.

News flash, it would have made it to the public anyway, albeit in a much more diluted fashion. At least we get to hear it straight from the horses mouth. Too bad if you don't like it, these things happen and we usually hear about it. Since when is it so bad to be honest. CT gets chastised for wearing his emotions on his sleeve. I'll take that any day over some robotic PR machine spewing obvious BS. Why does everything have to be so homogenized and easy to digest? Can't handle the fact that your idols aren't saints? Guess what, none of them are.

You got it from half of the horses mouth. There are two sides to every argument.

But we got Ed's side, he's never done anything dishonest! And most of us believe it's a crock of shit. The sheer amount of stuff that piles up against him is proof enough that the guy so many of us had idolized and loved has totally changed.
You may still be into your hero worship, the way you want to cling to "the good guys" who stand up for truth and good like Hogan, Yoda and Disney, but you can't add Ed to that list, he's a snake by all accounts. But it seems you are refusing to accept that as you want him to be one of those heros that you seem to need. I think the worst you have ever said of Ed (post Jimmy Lang meet n greet) was that he's "no angel", and we are all just agreeing with you there and pointing out the many reason that statement is correct.
