Thank god ccp don't use age as an excuse to go soft rock.

But if they turned to soft rock, would you put them down for not rocking like they did when they were teenagers? As long as they continue to make the music that they wish to make, then I am happy for them. And if that's the case, then chances are that I'm going to enjoy it. Its real. That speaks to me.

those that think C&C&P were the root for separations in Live are in the stone ages.

Jeeze Memphis was in town Zman....whoa stop the presses........perhaps he was just there getting coffee!!! lol.gif

I don't think they're turning to soft rock.....that was Ed's schticht. I think the true old harder Live edge will be resurrected with fire and brimstone!!!

I was wrong for saying that there was no noticeable drop-offs. I was just impressed/excited at how the new band handled itself in one of its first shows together.[u] LIVE with all four members is still the best, but Ed solo still puts on a good show.

Ned just admitted that there are drop-offs with the rent-a-musician band.

Were coming up on March 1st, not April 1st!!

So if Ed busted out a banjo and decided to play some redneck bluegrass stuff, you'd buy the CD?

Are you a fan of the music or a groupie that is a fan fan of the person?

When I like the content someone creates I have a certain level of expectations. I don't expect my favorite rock bands to go Christian Pop, just like a Bluegrass country fan doesn't expect their favorite band to get into gangsta rap.

If a band (or member) decides to do an about-face and head off in some different radical direction, that's fine, it's their choice, but as a fan don't be a puss about it and cop some lame ass Doctor Phil type of answer and say "As long as they make the music they want to make". As a fan, you like a certain thing. If that thing changes you have a right to not only not like it, but to voice that dislike. That type of market response is how those providing the content or the product adapt.

I'm not saying you won't, what I'm saying is that Ed on tour is good enough for me. I liked LIVE for their music and touring, not for their projects outside of the music industry.

Then go. There is nothing more for you here. You have what you want.

I said live and I am referring to music. I am not counting the horrible km
led tgf. What have they done since Ed left. People are complaining about Alive but live hasn't put anything out. So until that happens stop telling me about How great it's going to be. Ed sucks and live has things coming soon. Great thing to hold your hat on. Those b sides I have been waiting on do sound great. They haven't done dick.

Right, discard TGF because you don't like it. Ignore what it takes to completely relaunch Live with a new singer. Ignore all of their other projects and expect them to have new Live music out. God forbid someone challenge themselves to put out incredible music, like the music that attracted us to them in the first place. The could have easily put out something, but then it wouldn't have met their high standards. If you want some mediocre, half assed, uninspiring music there's plenty out there.

I'd buy it. I'll try out anything that the original 4 put out, contribute to, etc. Speaking of those 4... there are a couple of songs on Alive that I cant stand. Rome is one of them. Same goes for TGF album - Crying Time is just simply awful in my opinion, and no i dont care what its about.

I like many different kinds of music. There is so much out there, why would I not give a listen to something that is connected to my favorite old band?

Our expectations just dont matter. The musicians involved are ultimately going to give us what they want to give us. I dont think CCP&E were trying to put out music that met my expectations over the years. For many years, I didnt expect that Live would break up. But they did. And the style that Ed is producing right now still appeals to me. That doesnt take away from what I've liked that Live put out in the past. And it still leaves room for other projects - Live 2.0, TGF, etc.

Back in the 90's, I never thought that Darius Rucker would go country. But he did. Hootie and the Blowfish was not a country band.

Voice your dislike all you wish. But dont tell me that I'm wrong for liking something that appeals to me.

They did, it's called SFBM and they tried to pass it off as if it was just the same old Live. Since then, CCP have come out to say it probably should have been a solo Ed album. At least be honest with what you are doing and I can have some respect. Ed is making Christian Pop Rock yet he's going around saying it's reminiscent of 90's Live and playing all the hits from Live's catalog. Get real. Alive is nothing like classic Live and his performances are nothing like it either. Just be honest with everyone, including yourself. Embrace the Christian Pop Rock thing and I'll have some respect for you. As far as CCP turning to soft rock, if they ever did I'm sure they wouldn't pretend to be Live. Aging gracefully and softening somewhat is one thing, going 180 degrees is another. I always imagined Live going the route of U2. They have softened but it's not soft rock. A listen to No Line on the Horizon will confirm that they still have the passion to create great alternative rock music. Do I expect them to create another Sunday Bloody Sunday? No but if you're going to call yourselves U2, give me something that resembles U2. They still are. If Live is going to call themselves Live, I expect something that resembles Live. If Ed is going to continually compare himself to Live and rely so heavily on Live songs, then give me something that resembles Live. Only he's not.

That's next to irrelevant for most of us, at least me anyways, I don't give a damn who is there to listen to it. Anyone who thinks its going to be some huge comeback or big commercial success is kidding themselves, it aint happening, and it wouldn't be any different if Ed were there either. The vast majority of people just don't care about Live.
So, why bother spending time about that or who will listen to it, just focus on the music and enjoy it for what it is (or don't enjoy it and go follow a band that does bring you joy). It's really just so simple when you break it down.
