There is, but it really only works when everyone does it, otherwise it still shows up in people's quotes of the person you're ignore.

Plus even when ignoring the physical posts, you can't ignore the fact that the stupidity is still lingering on the board like a bad smell.

Weeeell if everyone dislikes Nick and his posts so much, it would seem it would be fairly easy for everyone to ignore him. Kind of an unwritten rule, no one quote Nick.

I know, it sounds like the logical solution, its been tried to put into practice a couple of times, but proves more difficult than it would seem.
Be best if he just left But he won't, he's sticking around to wait until Live release something and then gloat over any perception of poor sales so he can attribute that to the lack of Ed.

I think maybe it doesn't work because many here like the back and forth with Nick.
Which is fine, but don't then go and ask for a banning when he strikes a nerve.

Yeah sometimes people provoke him, which is annoying mostly when he actually has a quiet spell and is gone for awhile. I definitely argue with him because as I've said before, if a fly lands on you, you don't ignore it, you swat it. But if he left, I for one wouldn't shed a tear or want to entice him back. I wish he would, he did the right thing selling the board and standing down, the next logical step is to stand down all together and just go off following Ed. There is definitely a place for an Ed section of this board, especially for people like yourself that enjoy Ed and Live and are open minded enough to want to see what Live 2.0 is all about.
But when your one and only reason for being here is Ed, maybe fansofLIVE isn't the place to be. He couldn't see the difference between Ed's band and CCP, he has never joined in on any Live discussion unless its about sales or audience size. I just don't see the point otherwise.

But this is all well documented, everyone knows this, so until he goes I just see this being an unending spiral. And it's only going to get worse once Live do release something new and he decides to weigh in on how terrible it is and how much better it would have done in the charts if Ed were involved. Essentially turning all the excitement about new music into a sales and popularity contest. It's fair enough if you end up legit not digging it, thats personal taste, but it's clear that to him it goes well beyond just that. He's just holding a massive grudge, a bitter man. It's why if I were running the board he'd be gone. But Dan is a much nicer person than I am

Sorry Poke, but I for one am glad that Dan doesn't ban based on the unpopularity of one's opinion.

It's not the opinion that is the problem. Opinion is "I don't like TGF" - that's cool. What opinion isn't is sitting around waiting to take pleasure at the failure of 3/4 of the original band because your boy isn't involved. He's all but admitted that this was what he is waiting to do somewhere in one of the arguments in the thread that hoodie made for him. Remove him from the picture and the majority of the talk of a new Live album will be about the music. Keep him here, and its just going to be sales and attendance. There is room for some of that of course, but it is well documented that its all he is interested in. I think it goes well beyond having a simple opinion.

Although personally I don't understand being that way and believe it brings bad karma on to yourself entertaining such rancorous thoughts, I still feel that he should be able to feel that way and voice it if he so chooses. =)
