drum stick Options

Anbody else out there ever caught a Chad Gracey drum stick thrown into the audience after a show?
He usually tosses about 5 or 6.
Well I was lucky enough to get one in Chicago Tuesday night.
He tossed his last one high and far and it bounced off the facing of the balcony and bounced back toward the floor and right in front and to the side of me.
I lunged at it and caught it with both hands.
I think I must have been the only one to follow it's path cause nobody else went for it.
It was funny. My girlfriend was in total shock that I got it.
The guy next to me said nice grab and shook my hand.
Of course it was all banged up from being played.
I quickly gave it to my girlfriend as a gift for her first Live show.
And before I changed my mind and kept it for myself!
I had first row seats at Navy Pier a few years back and Chad tossed one right to me,
so I already had one in my collection.

Just curious if there are any other drum stick stories.

thought I better put a space in between drum and stick before somebody thinks I'm talking about chicken.

my first live show ever. beacon theatre. nyc. feb 25, 1997.

i was front row, right side of the stage (where pat used to be back in the day).

concert ended.

chad threw some sticks out there.

after most of them went to the other side of the stage, FINALLY one was coming right at me. i jumped too soon, though, and my hand made contact with the drum stick as i was already on the way down. it bounced off my thumb, fell behind me... into the hands of this BANGIN blonde.

i hated her for 30 seconds and then i got over it.

then i noticed one stick was still lying near the front of the stage. i stared at it for a minute, wondering if it was worth looking like a douche in front of everyone since i'd have to hump the front of the stage just to reach it (the stage was kind of high). then some dude made it a moot point, humped the stage himself, and got it.

i hated him for 30 seconds and then got over it.

then i realized i'll always hate him. and that bangin blonde as well.

I've been to 13 shows and caught 2. not a bad average.
I promise if I ever catch another drum stick it's yours!
that story earned it!
and to think when it started I thought it was gonna have a happy ending.

I have one, but I cheated too...it was handed to me after the WMMR show in Philly. I'm still very thankful!!

38 shows = 0 sticks for me. Matty & Tim ripped my fingers off in Philly with the stick THEY caught. First time I even made contact with a stick and those little jerks with a man-crush on Gracey broke my hand over it.

I have been to 8 shows and have a pick handed to me by ED....caught a drumstick from CHAD...and have 2 play lists from 2 gigs...and GUESS WHAT???
I got the song.."I WALK THE LINE"..when ED had it taped to the floor...as did he "RATTLESNAKE"...he was reading the words off the floor....

I got one after the Ithaca College show in 2003, it was kinda by accident since my friend and i both caught it, but he let me have it since Chad Taylor had thorwn him his glasses earlier in the show....

My boyfriend and i among others lunged for it at the 5/11 NYC Nokia show recently. He caught it and gave it to me since I was the diehard fan. Of course he was rewarded in shall we say other ways
Oh, a girl near me asked if she could "touch my sick" i said yes handed it to her but watched her like a hawk cause she wasn't gonna run off with my stick. My first show and i came back with memorbilia, not bad.

lol. that's probably the most dramatic 'live' story i can remember, so i tried to keep it suspensful for ya... and i appreciate the very generous future drumstick offer, but i won't hold you to it. the way i look at it, i got to sit front row for my very first live concert, so that's plenty to be thankful for.


oh, and Pokey, don't be sad... as you can see, i got a great story out of the deal.

there must not have been any drama in your catching the drum stick. good for you.

I asked for a playlist once at Congress Theatre in Chicago and the guy said no.
Thought they must be picky with those things until a girl showed me one she got from The Vic the other night.
Guess it depends on the person doing the giving.
Not sure what the policy is for those things.

him catching you getting. me catching her gettting.
and I was rewarded on the way home! the benefit of a hour and a half drive.

we stood outside waiting for awhile to see if there was any chance of seeing the guys and she was waving her stick around cause she was so happy and finally realized she better tuck it away.
nobody asked to touch her stick but she did comment everybody was looking at it. ha.
right then I realized I made the correct choice in giving it to her.

it took me about 16 shows to finally get one. Heathers hubby Tim caught it for me. Then I got another myself a few shows later.
