Your opinion, I personally like Candlebox and Kevin Martin. He has amazing range in his voice. Now as for what was said. Appetite did in fact go to #1 on the rock charts. I know in some markets it stayed in the top 10 for a long time. Allentown, PA - Austin Texas, Harrisburg, PA and a few other places. None of the songs on Ed's solo album had that success and yes they both sold about the same amount.

However, in fairness to both. Album sales arent a sign anymore, nobody is selling a ton of records. You think you will ever see an 8 time platinum album again. I think last year, only 2 or 3 artists hit 1million. Its all the industry and now you can download a song and email it to a few thousand people if you wanted to.

And I dont know why you talk of lyrics. Honest Man lyrics are far superior to the effort Ed wrote for believe. that was just horrible and it didnt flow with the song. If you break down the lyrics on The Gracious Few, they are some deep meaningful lyrics with the music to back it!

i know grace and stand did very well in Australia (not sure about album sales but those were on the radio 20 times a fucking day for a long time). Unfortunately the gracious few never even got a release here which is a shame as it is actually a proper album unlike alive, which isnt a proper album. its crap.

im hanging out for ed's next effort, i think he's still got it in him to do something great.

Regarding the idea that no one ever criticizes CCP I would like to add that many, including myself, bashed and questioned CCP and their failure to follow through on their commitments in a timely (ie "Coming Soon!") manner or at all. Things like the Churchbox stuff, website, radio/podcast etc etc.

Also, their marketing and communication tactics have been criticized quite a bit.

They aren't getting a free ride. Do they get better treatment? Well, yeah. It just seems unfair because of who is on this board. As a recent poll showed (I forget the thread title) those in favor of new Live over current Ed fronting Live was like 33-5.

So if you want to bash CCP or whoever, don't be surprised if there are more responses than when someone bashes Ed.

But keep in mind that those who are mad that people are ganging up on Ed or Ed lovers, those same Ed lovers never have a nice thing to say about TGF or KM or whoever is working with CCP.

lets just not recoil in horror if someone talks shit about km or tgf if you have been bashing ed. this board responds like you molested a child if you dont like how km sounds but finds its ok to kill ed.

The thing is it seems that people that bash KM or TGF have very little ammo "uh I think they're shit, and uh, yeah" that and the one grudge Nick is carrying which is publically saying stuff about Ed (which is seen as bad as Nazi war crimes). Where as people that bash Ed seem to have a wealth of gripes to choose from, some dating back to well before the band even split. Half the time I see people bash TGF or KM it seems like its some Jim of way to "get back" at people who bash Ed. KM in particular deserves no bashing, if you don't like his music that's fine, but besides that the guy hasn't done anything worth bashing.

I gotta agree with this. Now if everyone took a listen to Candlebox "Into the Sun" album. Its a solid album. Probably one of the best rock albums that has some out is a long time. But like many albums that come out, the record labels just dont promote anything.

The album is sonically and lyrically SOLID, with some amazing guitar solos on many of the songs. Check it out.

Don't like his voice for tgf. No bashing. Didn't say one thing other than not liking his voice. No personal shit said, ever (I don't think)

Yeah we'll just sweep the "10 people who bought it" comment under the rug, shall we? smile.gif
Although I know that's directed at TGF as a whole rather than just KM. I think Nick holds the crown for oddest bash of KM, when KM gave an explanation as to how he sings and performs and how he thinks Ed did, I think Nick took that quite personally. Sort of reacted like a jealous lover who's husband mentioned the name of his ex-wife and the blood started to boil. How dare KM even mention Ed's name!

Also, this isn't directed solely at you, there are a couple of others too.

I'd like to point out that it's not really CCP that changed. Ed's writing (and in turn the creative output of the band) changed dramatically in substance, tone and style. If you think that change was for better or worse, that's totally up to you, but it leaves Ed open for much more criticism from people who enjoy the original sounds of Live.

I think both records sold the same overall, TGF more in the US....yes w/o milking the Live name. Grace was not on rock stations.....but Appetite was #1 in 7 markets for a good time. (rock format)!!!
