The way i look at it is simple, there is music i like, and music that i dont like. The more i think about it - the drama behind an established name, the legacy and all of that boil down to nothing if I really dig the music. My biggest musical love in Morrissey has personal views that I just do not agree with (eg vegetarianism), some of his fans cant understand why i would love him so much if something so much a part of him I disagree with - it's because I love the music.
Live 1.0 for the first 4 albums are in a time capsule and what they have done can never be taken away. I love it and will always love it. Live 1.5 which I see as Live when Ed took over, they frustrated the hell out of me, had flashes of the old brilliance sparingly and I hung on hoping they'd turn things around, but in the end, a whole lot of stuff i just don't want to listen to. Now Live 2.0 is here and its simple, if i like the music thats great, if i don't, then i wont listen to it.
When the news firstly broke I felt like Fish did "how could LIVE ever be anything other than the original 4??" and that's true, but that was Live 1.0, a Live that personally to me hasn't existed in years. I don't think I could bother affording to be too precious with it, i'll take it on face value. I'll listen to it as if I've never heard Live before and this is something brand new.

I find myself now getting less and less caught up in the lore of a band. When it boils right down to it, a band makes music. That's all, everything else stems from that - how it makes you feel, ticket sales, charting, personal history etc whatever it is, its springs from the music, the music made all of those things possible. So that is my guide, all the other things really are byproducts of the music, that's whats important and once again, if I like it I'm not going to let the other things complicate it, i'm gonna turn it up to 11!
