I know you've said CS or whoever is singing should tone down the Ed-mulation. But look at what AC/DC did with Brian Johnson. He channeled Bon Scott to his best ability, really pushed himself. The result was incredible. Hell, back then when I was young and dumb I didn't even know there was a different singer. What if this new singer was able to do that? Channel his inner EK and come up with something ala Brian Johnson and AC/DC.

He definitely nailed it, I just don't prefer that approach. I see why others do, though!

I saw that post about a cover band as well, hope it's not true either. The music industry went down the crapper thanks to the changes in radio. My first career was working as a radio dj and I know from my experience that once the monster company known as Clear Channel Communications began to monopolize the media market rock radio began to die. Yes, monopolies are illegal, but laws and regulations that stop this in the world of radio/television were changed under President Bush. Not picking political debates, but this all happened due to former President Bush's connection with CCC Vice Chairman who happened to be a major political donor and the man who bought The Texas Rangers baseball franchise from Bush when he was the owner of the team in the early 90's. Now thanks to CCC rock radio is effectively dead, there are now more Country format stations in American followed by Pop/Adult Contemporary, then Talk Radio. Rock radio is simply vastly outnumbered because CCC got behind Country Radio and shoved it down the American public's throat from the mid 90's on.

Sorry to go on a rant, but I could speak on this subject all day long. If you are a true rock band and not a band that has sold their soul to the CCC gods then you are going to have do it yourself and build on your own, because rock radio is effectively dead in the water. This is why I believe that LIVE will be successful the sense that they are building a base with loyal listeners who will build the base in a grassroots format. I know that I have done all I can to tell all the people who I knew followed LIVE in the past as well as those who dug TGF about what is happening. If what Chad T. Chad G. and Pat D. are doing is doing is not for you that is fine, but don't begrudge them just move on.

Its really up to US to help our favorite bands push and move forward, some of these bands now a days play such shit music and are huge yet here we are holding onto hope for The Gracious Few and players like Adam Taylor, Adam Kowalczyk, some guys who where at the top now no longer can even find work or a gig doing what they love, I pray to god for their sake and our sake and for the sake of the crappy music industry that positive things happen and those mention climb to the top and stay there where they belong once again, putting a smile on their fans faces knowing they helped them get there...

Everclear without Art Alexakis
Pumpkins without Billy Corgan
Bush without Gavin Rossdale
3EB without Stephan Jenkins
Nirvana without Kurt

But, don't worry... LIVE has a new singer.

This is a joke right? Complete with a Karaoke singer, how about that?

Peace

If you aren't pumped about new Live then please take Nick and you two can go follow the golden boy. You can have your fill of smiles, 3rd grade lyrics, shaking hips, and strip-teases. Leave everyone else alone. No one wants to hear that shit anymore.

I will still support the members of Live that didn't fuck everything up. I support their effort to rekindle the flame that Ed pissed on/out.

QUOTE(FishOutaWater @ Jan 13 2012, 3:06 pm) *

And eventually, I fear that it will draw to a close under the weight of its financial infeasibility, just as I suppose the pressure took its toll on TGF. Whenever I saw TGF perform in a small venue with 100 to 200 people in atendance, with a tour bus and Matt Gracey doing sound check and Bill running around doing tour manager stuff, and a crew setting up lights and sound, I thought to myself - these are seasoned professionals and perfectionists that are used to performing a show in a certain way. They aren't going to put on a show with half-assed sound and stage. And it is that level of overhead that they demanded which ultimately was the undoing of the band from a financial perspective. Maybe the same happens with Live. I am guessing it will. But I hope not.

TGF were an unknown commodity even considering the band member's previous successes. I'm thinking it may have been bit overly ambitious to tour in a bus. I know they're accustomed to that level of comfort, but perhaps they should have considered going at it from a truly garage-band mentality. Toughed it out in a van or something that requires less upkeep than a tour bus. Maybe staying in cheaper hotels/motels would also have helped?

But I think Live will have the advantage of name recognition that TGF didn't have. They may not sell many albums, but I'm sure they'll play to fairly-sized crowds closer to the level of tour bus than tour van.

I don't fault them for having the bus. They at least deserved that. However, they weren't staying in expensive hotels at all. They stayed at RV campgrounds, which are very cheap. At the Ephrata show, I spent a good hour talking to their bus driver. He's driven for them since the TC days, and said that under the Ed years towards the end, Ed had his own bus, and would insist that they stayed at expensive hotels, because he just couldn't be caught dead in a cheap place.

That's a true story. Ed was excess....still is probably. Why do you think he demanded 70% and lives in multimillion dollar houses in California? His ego!!!!!

The TGF tourbus was sponsored.....until the sponsor backed out. It was paid for by the band.

You seem to really, really like Nick when all you post about is defending him.
Either way, I somewhat agree, personally I see this as totally different to Nick. Whilst I disagree completely with what the original poster of this thread believes, its inevitable that these opinions exist. And thats what they are, opinions, and everyone can have them. So I say people who are psyched about New Live just gotta put up with these opinions and argue them where appropriate, not everyone will always be pleased.
This is utterly different to a bitter little man holding a grudge and pushing an agenda. Thinking that it'll fall flat on its face is different to hoping it will fall flat on its face.

Is Ed a lot richer than the other guys? If so, has he always been, or is this down to his latter day contract sneakiness?

i know im a hotel kinda guy, dont much like roughing it like my friends. When they're out camping in the bush and hiking to historic landmarks and wiping their asses with leaves, you can find me sunbathing by the pool ordering beer and tipping the hotel staff. It's a personal preference.
