Here's how that should sound.

Cornell is in fine form these days. Can't wait for new Soundgarden.

This just goes to show that Ed still has vocal chops, but his poor judgement in just as bad as it's been the last 10 or so years of his career.

One of the reason's the Cornell version is better, is because it's just him playing an acoustic guitar. This would have been a much better, if Ed would have done the same thing. Instead he decided to let his band play a completely neutered version of the music behind him, while he screams at the top of his longs.

He has vocal chops on some songs that is for sure I just find it ironic to bash a man and then take his song and preform it a few days later. As far as I am concerned EK is a walking contradiction that has no clue what or who is these days. In some ways I find it sad, but it's the place he has made for himself. So I hope he is happy isolating himself with his coffee/barista dreams, playing the casino/county fair circuit, and generally pissing all over his musical legacy by bastardizing his own words with hack musicians. Okay I feel a little better smile.gif

The only thing that is missing from that performance is some Oohh Baby Sugah!. Seriously, he has been trying to do things with his voice that just don't work for over well over 10 years now. Every now and then he tones it down a bit and it's good. This is not one of those cases. Maybe if he did it acoustically he would have toned it down, but it would be nowhere near Cornell. He is sounding as good as I've heard him.

I would have no problem with EK doing acoustic work, but what he tries with this youth group praise band gone wrong band is an abomination.

When part of this was done in I Alone a few years ago it was great, another case of Live sounding better than the original. Not that I liked the original much. But here he sounds like he's trying way too hard and doing way more with his voice than should be done with this song. He's up and down and high and low, it's like he's trying to do all of his singing in one song.
Listen to how simple and almost in a way, monotone his voice was singing Love My Way, it's fantastic! He didn't need for that song to be an Idol-esque "show off your range constantly through the whole song" type of affair.

So Nick gave me negative rep for posting this. Hey, it's not my fault Ed vomited all over the song.

That's ok, just go give him some negative rep for the insinuations in the Chris Shinn thread. Apparently then you can compare Shinn covering All Over You but can't compare Ed covering Like a stone, interesting. I must say as much as I've fought with Nick I've never, ever given him negative reps, I think I actually even gave him one positive one for making me laugh about sonething unexpectedly once.

If its fair to compare one singer covering a song then surely it's fair to do it to the other. It's a shame Nick doesn't like the opinion given and wonders why people keep bothering with Ed stuff if they don't like his music anymore? Funny, that sounds very familiar with Live and him?

Of course he played Like a Stone. Anything to keep more Alive songs off the setlist.

This is my favorite Like a Stone version. This was a 4 song set. I recommend comparing the Ed performance to this one. You will LOL.

Live is my favorite band. No question. However, Ed never has and never will have shit on Cornell. Sorry. Cornell has proven it. He has proven he can be successful with multiple bands or solo.

Ed was successful in Live. When it became Ed controlled it sucked. Now solo Ed sucks.

I think it is a testament to how good CCP really is or at least how good Ed+CCP really was.

Also, Cornell is an incredible (and better) musician. Fun fact time. Cornell was originally the drummer for Soundgarden but agreed to be the lead singer because they couldn't find one.

And then there is this. While this song was written long before Ed became "Eddie K", this song is about him.

"The band explained that the lyrics for "Jesus Christ Pose" concern the exploitation of religion for personal benefit"

Enjoy the best voice ever.

Nick just asked if people really take fansoflive rep seriously, which implies he doesn't, yet he is taking the time to pass out negative rep.

That is like saying you want to be counted out for new Live, which implies you don't care about them, yet coming back to post over and over and over about them and anything/anyone related to them.

Oh, wait...
