BC sounds like he got kicked in the nuts harder than Ed did.

But I wouldn't out and out call him a liar

QUOTE(themaestro @ Jan 2 2012, 1:08 pm) *

Maybe it's the politically correct thing to say. Maybe some people buy that stuff hook, line and sinker. I don't. I'm adult enough to give it the eye and ear test and run it though my brain to determine if it's 100% bs, partial bs, or no bs and decide if I'll support it or not.

So you wouldn't call billy a liar, but then you agree that he might be full of bs. That's all i was saying, and all you were disagreeing with this whole time.

i'm stubbornly objective. You're the one making uninformed claims. Feel free to PM me and I'll hook you up. Maybe you'll never understand....he's sitting in Monte's living room.

I hope the best for oceania, but its like telling people to give Ed's second solo album a fair listen. Of course I'm not going to have high hopes for Oceania.

This will be the last words I speak on this subject because you seem hell bent on proving something that is unnecessary and really comes down to a difference in philosophies. I don't necessarily believe someone is lying if they believe in what they are saying and fail to deliver. I also don't believe they are lying if they speak about things they aspire to, or think are good ideas, even if they fall short in achieving them. Like the example I gave about CT, he has spoken about how he has forgiven or made peace with EK and supports his decision to go solo. Do I think CT believes that 100%? probably not. He's bound to still be a little upset. Does that make him a liar, or full of shit. Not in my book. I believe that he thinks that it would be best to feel that way. I'm sure he aspires to that. Maybe there's even some marketing bs in that statement. Still doesn't make him a liar in my book. He'll probably never fully get over what happened. Still doesn't make him a liar if he says he has. Now, as it comes to what BC said, I have no idea of how much of it is BS if any. Personally, I think he probably thinks these are good things to aspire to. Things he may admire in other bands, and yes, maybe what the public wants to hear. I wouldn't call him a liar. You feel otherwise. Fine. We can agree to disagree. That wasn't the main point anyway. The main point is that these are good ideas regardless of who says them. It just happened to be BC. Doesn't make the ideas any less endearing to me. Especially since I was talking about how it applied to Live.

QUOTE(Bremang @ Dec 22 2011, 3:03 am) *

Pretty good voice. Cant belt like ed back in the day. New singer might be good enough to front new live. Based on the recording, i hope theystick to new material.

Let me tell you something. This guy is going to be a lot like Kevin Martin for a lot of people, gonna love him or going to hate him. But I can tell you that from hearing a lot of his work, he is currently a thousand times the sing Ed is at this moment. Can he belt it out like Ed did back in the day? Fuck yes. Is it going to be the same? FUCK NO?

So all the lame comparisons should really stop. Because after looking through a few pages of this thread, I was really taken aback by how utterly fucking stupid some of you sound. We're not getting Ed back, get over it and move on, plain and fucking simple. This new singer is not Ed. Trying to measure him against Ed is fucking absurd, as Ed is one of the most unique lead singers of our generation of music.

I LOVED Ed singing Live's music. It's over. Like a sane and logical grown adult would do, I'm going to cherish his contribution to the bands music. I won't ever forget his performances. He was at a time, downright electrifying. That's gone.

This new singer is going to bring something different and unique on his own. People need to either give him a chance and judge the music for what it is, or get the fuck lost and keep their bullshit to themselves. New Live isn't going to be the same, so why the fuck argue in its comparison. Like I said, the stupidity is fucking laughable.

I will take this new guy for what he is, a talented singer with his own style. I will judge the new music accordingly. Juding it based on how Ed did or could sound is utterly ridiculous.

its reasonable to compare the old singer with the new singer, especially when the new singer is singing the old songs. its acceptable to predict and pass judgment at any point in the process.

Chris Shinn performed with Live on stage during the TDTH tour according to an interview...

What was it like touring with Live and Counting Crows?

Chris-It was amazing. Christopher, our guitar player, had recorded with them [Live] on their last album, and played his guitar. Right around the time that I met Christopher last year, he was in the middle of making that record with Live. They’re friends from years ago and they actually wanted him to join their band, but he declined because he wanted to do what we’re doing. He had done a short tour with Live, and played the Tibetan Freedom Concert with them, but his declining made it a lot easier for me to leave my band too.

Live has been the sweetest group to us. They have always said, from the beginning of our band, ‘soon as you guys get the record going give us a call, and we’ll hook you up,’ and they did. It was really cool though. There was this one time when I was standing on stage while they were paying, and Ed [Kowalczyk] pulled me out to sing in the intro for “I Alone.” That was amazing.

Judging from that I have to think that Chris Shinn is the new singer. I mean, how much more obvious can it get?

I'd never heard of Chris Shinn until the rumor that he was the next singer popped up. But upon hearing (assuming it's) his take on All Over You I'm an instant fan.

I know this has been quiet for some time now, but would anyone be able to repost the 2011 version of All Over You? I'd really like to check that out.

Thanks!
