Ha ha. Yeah, he's got it all figured out. Buried beneath all that B.S. he said something about how BC's words could be applied accurately to Live going forward, which was the whole point of why I posted that. Not to debate whether or not BC/SP is actually fulfilling that, which would be better served in another thread. We'll see if CCP truly try to stay true to the original vision of Live and if they are able to pull it off considering all of the variables they face.

Through all our bullshit I forgot one thing: HOW MUCH I LOVE every single second of Mental Jewerly. I mean I loved the album for years but for some reason I woke up today and had some emotion pulling me to it.
I'm at Tired of Me and I am just DAMN!!!!
My first musical notes of 2012 started off with this album. I wonder if it will pull me in next year and make myself a personal tradition to spin this one every new years morning.

Mostly, I responded to your post because I appreciate talking about Sp and Live at the same time - they were my two favorite bands. And with that I wanted to say Billy and Live were hardly mentioned together, despite being stars at the same time, and I posted a link to the one interview I knew where they crossed paths in some form.

Anyway, from the perspective of someone who follows SP, you basically posted the most controversial video in recent times. I felt like filling in the non-sp fans here about some opinions about that video which are very prevalent in the SP community, since you posted it....mainly that Monte is whack, and Billy is full of lies and has been for years.

But then you tried to dispute whether billy was full of shit, so then I shot that idea down. In general, people here often talk about other bands, and get off topic. Maybe you just need to recognize that your only issue with what I said is due to how much you are a fan of Billy.

I like Billy Corgan's thoughts about the idea of The Smashing Pumpkins. Sort of like the idea of Live that was birthed so many years ago and staying true to that idea. I think this is what C,C,P want for Live.

Nah, I don't need to be enlightened on how BC is lying to us all. That view seems as extreme as Nick's views on CCP. In reality, these message boards would probably die if not for extreme views on either side. It keeps the conversation going, especially in times when there is not much going on. The truth usually lies somewhere in the middle of those extremes.

Being skeptical of BC is one thing, to out and out suggest he is lying or full of shit is extreme as Nick suggesting CT is lying about how he said he has come to peace with EK and regrets saying what he did. Perhaps there is a shred of marketing to what CT is saying. But I wouldn't out and out call him a liar because he may not believe it 100%. Sometimes people say things like that because that is what they believe is the best. Maybe they are aspiring to be that way. Maybe it's the politically correct thing to say. Maybe some people buy that stuff hook, line and sinker. I don't. I'm adult enough to give it the eye and ear test and run it though my brain to determine if it's 100% bs, partial bs, or no bs and decide if I'll support it or not. Then there are others that are so swayed by their opinions that they are bound to love it or hate it no matter what. Sort of like Nick with EK and CCP and, dare I say, sort of like you with BC/SP. I can't imagine you'll be able to give Oceania a fair listen with your level of disdain for BC/SP.

Anyway, even if BC doesn't believe one bit of what he is saying, those things are still good things to aspire to. If Live can do some of those things, I think will bode well for their band going forward and make it easier to replace someone that had such an indelible mark on the band. Like BC said about SP, if we can close our eyes and listen to new Live and say that fucking rocks, then that's all that should matter.

The intent was not to have a discussion about BC/SP, but to point out that I think some of the things he mentions are good, especially if applied to Live. My bad though. I should have known everyone's utter contempt for BC/SP would trump anything the man could ever say and the thread would quickly dissolve into a meaningless discussion of how full of shit he is. Actually, I figured it was coming. I should have known better. Now back to lurking and watching the threads dissolve into meaningless discussions of how full of shit Nick is.

I used to be a big Smashing Pumpkins fan. Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness are great cds. Unfortunately, after those I was never a huge fan of what they subsequently put out.
