If they really were sold on Shinn in that position, they could have pushed back the tour a few months so that he could get a better grasp on the material. Cancelling the tour entirely shows that they didn't have faith in him as a the frontman for that particular group.

If you ever stopped to think beyond your impulsive, hate fueled words you'd realize there was much more going on here than some band just saying we don't believe in you as a singer. In fact, I doubt that was part of it at all. First off, they reluctantly reformed in the first place due to reverence for Shannon and just wanting to preserve the memories of Blind Melon as it were. Having issues with their new singer after reluctantly reforming was sure to be difficult to handle. I'm sure Travis leaving caused all sorts of turmoil and logistical issues with an impending tour. Perhaps they figured Chris would be a great emergency fill in since he is an awesome singer that would fit well with their sound. Maybe after thinking about it and the fact the CS only had a few days to rehearse they thought it was best to cancel the tour. Their emotions had to be swirling considering what was going on in the present as well as what had gone on in the past with Blind Melon. Canceling the tour was probably the most logical thing to do.

As far as going forward, they were on the fence about continuing anyway, so maybe they backed off a bit. Perhaps rescheduling would have been tough too with another new singer. Anyway, there are all sorts of plausible reasons why CS did not tour with them or become their singer. Calling him a reject is just a short sighted, ignorant way to try to make him look bad.

So this right here, is you spinning away from your contention/statement/arguement that they were done........Yes we've told you this 1000x, but now you finally accept it? You have no ground to stand on. DO you see how foolish you look?

The Gracious Few may tour again at some point, but for the forseeable future they appear to be done.

Just like LIVE with Ed could eventually make a comeback, as of now it isn't in the cards.

I have no doubt that Chris Shinn is a talented musician. I just think that CCP trying to make him a replacement for Ed is just a bad idea and really isn't fair to him.

A good chunk of fans will reject the move, and as we've seen the two Chads aren't fond of criticism to begin with. If Shinn fronted a new band for CCP that covered some LIVE and played new material, I think it would be much easier digested for many. As it stands now, they will just be compared to LIVE's heyday, and will fall well short.

We get it, we hear you.....you told them you didn't care or wanted to follow.....the criticism some people give them wasn't constructive, it was attacking. You want to gloat and see it fall short. Go bother some other people elsewhere.

If Ed comes back, color me surprised. It would take a big contrition on his part. If he chooses that path so be it, i'll be receptive if he wants to collaborate again like 1886-2001.

TGF will tour again when the time is right. So you're just regurgitating our facts back at us.......is this your way of acknowledging? one banana yes, 2 for no......

You may be correct. They saw that Chris Shinn may not have worked as the lead singer of Blind Melon, so he and Chris Thorn started Unified Theory instead.

CCP should take Chris, start a band that covers some LIVE tunes, and focus' on new music. If the four of them work hard and are committed, they could do pretty well. They need to make a distinction from the original LIVE in order to succeed long term.

I'm a bit confused about the way you worded your post. It sounds like you are saying Shinn didn't work out for BM/BM tour so he and Thorn started Unified Theory. You might have your time line wrong.

Unified Theory was a separate project like 10 years ago, right after the official break up of Blind Melon. (check this out nick) IN MY OPINION I don't think Thorn was searching for a new Blind Melon singer.
That has nothing to do with the 2008 tour and Shinn not working out to be singer for BM.
As stated by others, many factors contributed to the canceled tour such as time restraints and whatever else may have gone on. And it's not that easy to just postpone a tour for a band like this as you say. They are not U2 or Metallica here.

But what do I know.

Oh the one that knows all, lay on the truth and facts (like the fact that Shinn is a Blind Melon reject and nothing but)

I like Billy Corgan's thoughts about the idea of The Smashing Pumpkins. Sort of like the idea of Live that was birthed so many years ago and staying true to that idea. I think this is what C,C,P want for Live. Anyway, pretty interesting stuff in this interview, particularly from 6:49 on. I've heard other interviews where he goes into more detail about the concept of The Smashing Pumpkins. Good stuff whether you like them/him or not.

You've got 3/4 of that band and the vision still intact. If they can bring the new guy along and he's up for it, I think it could be great. Looking forward to new music.

That is because no one wants to work with Billy Corgan.

the post is a correlation to what new Live is about. Corgan is a difficult nut to crack, most lead singers are.
That band has had more drama than most, but the message is to be true to the sonic vision of the band.
Live slipped into the space/time continuum in 2001, now it's being corrected.

Without Ed, most won't accept it as being LIVE.
