If the new lead singer IS Chris Shinn (and who knows if it is) then I think that is a good thing from one BIG perspective, if none other:

Chris Shinn is today where Ed Kowalczyk was in 1994 - musically, lyrically, vocally, and from the perspective of passion, energy and hunger. We can debate about whether his voice is "as good" as younger Ed vocally. But I mean that sound in the nuance of his voice that reflects all the other things I described in the preceding sentence.

So you think that based on Shinn's solo material, he is musically, lyrically, and vocally, from the perspective of passion, energy, and hunger, as Ed was in 1994. And therefore, Shinn would be great for Live from one "big" perspective.

Well..................

Sure, being hungry, energetic and passionate can be good for Live's singer. Not sure that this perspective is "big" enough to really say all that much. Having energy and desire is not sufficient to fill Live's singing duties. The singer's still gotta write and sing great, despite his desire and energy, in order to be comparable to Ed of 1994.

Also, the sound of ones voice doesn't not lend to someones lyrical ability when you consider that lyrics are significantly about meaning, opposed to their auditory qualities.

Still, I don't know how you make this determination of someones desire. In general, I have my doubts that Chris now was driven like Ed in 1994.

I get your general vibe Fish, you like the singer in the clip and you hope for the best.

I'll take a stab and say that perhaps 20% of what you write is true, the rest you chalk up to a certain point of view...........Ole Obi Wan use to say this!!!

You're given fact after fact and you still wont digest it and stop.

Can you give me an example of what I say that isn't true?

Give examples of my uncalled for remarks that weren't truthful. Also, you have several posts in Ed threads the last few months.

As opposed to your hundreds? I am not going through all you post to give examples for

1. you don't when you are called on something, just ignore
2. I am not as obsessed

edit: 3. I fully expected you to find every post I made in ed threads. But my random posts/jabs in ed threads are insignificant compared to your posts in TGF/(new)Live

I can think of a few from today,

Chris Shinn is a Blind Melon reject.
Kevin Martin jumped ship on TGF when he saw it wasn't making money.

Furthermore, you're making judgements about a band that doesn't even exist yet (new Live) and people who may or may not even be in the band. How is that factual? You're delusional.

Chris Shinn was a Blind Melon reject, and Kevin Martin chose Candlebox because he could actually make money with it. Sleeping on a tour bus must have gotten old for an established rock star pretty quickly.

Because he didn't know their songs? He wasn't in the band to begin with. They cancelled the tour. That means they're all rejects. And KM is still in TGF. What a dumb ass.

I have no doubt that Chris Shinn is a talented musician. I just think that CCP trying to make him a replacement for Ed is just a bad idea and really isn't fair to him.

A good chunk of fans will reject the move, and as we've seen the two Chads aren't fond of criticism to begin with. If Shinn fronted a new band for CCP that covered some LIVE and played new material, I think it would be much easier digested for many. As it stands now, they will just be compared to LIVE's heyday, and will fall well short.

I would love to hear you explain how CS is a Blind Melon reject. Sure, they couldn't pull off a tour with him stepping in for someone at the last minute. How the hell is he supposed to know the songs? Let's see your beloved EK fill in on tour for one of his idols Bono with two days practice. Ain't happening. Not happening for anyone, anywhere.

If they really were sold on Shinn in that position, they could have pushed back the tour a few months so that he could get a better grasp on the material. Cancelling the tour entirely shows that they didn't have faith in him as a the frontman for that particular group.

Oy vey! Who says they were ever thinking anything beyond emergency replacement? Maybe he wasn't sold on the idea. We don't know. Maybe he didn't have faith in them. There are all sorts of things that could explain why they didn't continue but you come up with Blind Melon reject. This is why people respond to you the way they do. This isn't truth at all.

Kevin Martin never disbanded CB, it was a hiatus. THe other CB folks sans Sean Hennessy are doing a side band called Lotus Crush, which still plays dates in and around CB schedules. TGF's plans changed and took a touring break to deal with new Live, QE and other business, They did record new music this year and will move that out to the fans in 2012 SH has two other bands and he just did a HiWatts show on 12/28 with KM., CB had contractual committments to do shows in 2011. You're really grasping at the air when it comes to all of this. I am telling you the facts because I am privy to them. You cannot agree with 99% of us saying the same thing to you because you refuse to show a weakness when you're flat our wrong. Shinn by the way had his Everything is Energy band going in 2006-2008 and the Blind Melon stuff never came off. Plus he lost all his possesions in fire at his home in CA. Lost everything and had to start over. Sleeping on a tour bus with your bandmates together is much better than having your own to yourself while the other 3 friends are by themselves. What other BS you got.....I got time asshole.

So this right here, is you spinning away from your contention/statement/arguement that they were done........Yes we've told you this 1000x, but now you finally accept it? You have no ground to stand on. DO you see how foolish you look?
