If the new lead singer IS Chris Shinn (and who knows if it is) then I think that is a good thing from one BIG perspective, if none other:

Chris Shinn is today where Ed Kowalczyk was in 1994 - musically, lyrically, vocally, and from the perspective of passion, energy and hunger. We can debate about whether his voice is "as good" as younger Ed vocally. But I mean that sound in the nuance of his voice that reflects all the other things I described in the preceding sentence.

Ed in 1994 and Chris Shinn today = Rocky Balboa in Rocky I

Ed in 2012 = Rocky Balboa in Rocky V and Rocky VI.

Yeah, but he's a Blind Melon reject. How in the world could Live have a singer that is all those great things you mentioned when they canceled that one tour they were going to do that one time? laugh.gif

WOAH! Look Rocky V was terrible, we get that. No need to knock Rocky VI, that was a good movie and belongs in the Rocky Boxed Set, in place of Rocky V.

I'm not knocking the movie itself. I never actually even saw Rocky Balboa. The point I was trying to make is that Ed is older, richer and lost the "hunger". Rocky in Rocky I had nothing and he was hungry.

I have no doubt that Ed would put out an olbum of covers of show tunes and standards at this point if he thought he could make a lot of money from it.

Maybe he cancelled the tour because Chris wanted a lead singer bonus. Then that would make him OK like Ed, right?

The major difference is that Ed Kowalczyk in 1994 was 22 years old and on the verge of hitting it big in the music industry with the band he helped start.

Chris Shinn in 2012 is 38 years old without ever being able to stick in one band for more than a year, and is getting ready for the thankless stint of replacing the popular frontman of an already established band.

His age and the volume of thanks that he might get for his new job are tangential and virtually unrelated to any of my points. Furthermore, I did not invite any criticism or poop-slinging from you. I was just commenting on something that I am excited about in the new lead singer, and you felt the need to add an uninvited, unrelated and unwarranted criticism. Nick, I have refrained from joining the chorus of cricism of you and your antics, and you make it all the more difficult for me to refrain. I would thank you to leave your hands off my posts that are not aimed at you.

So at 38 you can't possess the musical, vocal or lyrical ability of someone 22? You can't have the same passion, hunger, and energy? Wrong. You can do all those things and have the wisdom and knowledge only gained by living life. Something that is quite shocking when you think of EK because life's experiences seem to have had the reverse effect on him. Especially when you think of where he was at 22.

You are a waste of space, seriously we get it, you hate everyone and everything that comes into contact with CCP because you hold a major grudge against them. Go away.

To hate them is to love EK I guess. Not sure why you'd want to spend so much energy hating. He's only going to attract that back.

Blind Melon decided to cancel their tour instead of letting Chris Shinn front them. If it was strictly a time issue, they could have just postponed their tour a few months until Shinn was more familar with Blind Melon's material.

Whatever will we discuss next on this board......holy shit , cut & paster has been busy.

I can't believe he remembers all this stuff or bothers to look it up. Seriously, nothing better to do with your time than to focus on things you don't like? Again, its a bitter man holding a massive grudge and is here for the sole purpose of pushing his agenda, god damnit I wish he could be banned.
