+1. Can't we just ignore Nick's comments ?

Again it's tough, unlike a person with valid Criticisims or concerns, he is just out to drag anything CCP does through the mud as in his twisted mind he sees them deserving it. Valid critisisms can be ignored.

Nick complains saying its been mastered, that's fucking hilarious considering his taste in music is the most watered down and studio mastered into an unnatural sound you can think of besides Taio Cruz's autotuned songs.
The fact his beloved Ed can never hit the notes on "spread your wings and flyyyy" like he does in the studio version because his voice just isn't meant to do that goes to show his double standards.
The fact is this is an untouched recording in a controlled environment. Nick just isn't used to a band naturally being able to do what most bands need computers to make them sound like. The fact that Ed's band displayed "no noticeable drop offs" when playing Lakinis juice absolutely prohibits Nick from having any valid points about music. Ever. And giving us his expert advice on how this track was constructed is laughable and shows he is truly just trying to throw anything and everything he can at this project to shit on it.

Nick I wish I had the time to go around commenting on all the bands I don't like, so if youve heard new Live and don't like it then for the love of god just leave us be to enjoy it and stop showing us all that you are just a malicious little man who is bitter and out to shit on everyone's good time. You think it's going to fail in concert, fine think that and piss off. Don't go to the concerts, don't pay attention. You just sound like you're taking joy in other peoples perceptive failure. How Christianly.
We know you don't like it, we know you're never going to like it, the only element you liked in Live has been removed so you should be too.

On an aside after listening to this multiple times it's growing on me more and more. I'm more excited about new Live now than ever.

I think you are confusing me with the movie producing, label starting, record producing, real estate developing, radio hosting, multiple band starting friends you have.

NICK,

LOL at Nick talking about "mastering" in the studio. Dude, you don't know anything about the studio!! This is a demo recording with very little mixing, and nothing was done to the vocals except a pinch of reverb to emulate the original All Over You recording (it's on the drums too). Amazing that people still haven't learned to ignore that guy (literally, the ignore button, try it!).

Anyway, I really like the vocals when he isn't doing an Ed impression. Less Ed impression and more of the singers' voice please! The growl does sound like Shinn, if it's him I hope he turns it loose as himself on the new songs. I don't need an Ed impression.

I didn't really get much from it that it was an Ed impression, he stayed true to the sound of the original recording, but nothing straight away jumps out at me that he's trying to sound like Ed, he's just singing it the way the original was sung, which, when the rest of the band are playing it that same way, I don't really know what the singer could do differently to go along with that.

Ahh come on guys, please stop debating Nick's posts. I understand it's not easy to ignore and shit, but try to focus on the exciting stuff to come.

QUOTE(Pokey @ Dec 22 2011, 6:09 am) *

Yeah I think I like it so far. Hard to judge on one particular clip but I'll give it a shot. There are things I like and dislike about it. There's points where it gets a bit dangerously close to "Idol does rock" in the voice at the begining of the song. You know those guys that go on the Idol show and claim to be rock fans and its basically just that craig david singing with a slight rock twist to it, then its revealed their rock love are generic bands like Guns'n'Roses or something like that and wouldn't really know rock if Mike Patton were to walk into the room and beat them over the head with it.
Again not exactly like that, but there are tinges of trying to be 'too perfect' .. but then again that is exactly what Ed is doing now.

There are the moments where the voice then kicks into gear and it sounds great, I like that the backing vocals give it some depth and they're not just the singer's backing vocals layered over and over like later Live with Ed. It feels so unnatural to have the lead singer singing over the top of himself. So thats good. The outro where he rocks out some more is great.

So basically nowhere near as great as Ed circa 1994, but fuck loads better than Ed circa 2011.

Any big Chris Shinn fans out there? Can you recognise his voice easily enough to say this definitely is/isn't him?
I want to hear some more!

Oh and as always, the band sound tight as hell and awesome!

I couldn't exactly describe it, but I think Pokey quite nailed it. Although this recording was exciting, I heard a few Idol/Daughtry(?) moments shining through. Big difference with Daughtry however (for example) is that he never give me the shivers Ed gave me. In some way this new singer is capable of giving you those shivers again (check some roars in the second part of the recording), and that's a big plus.

Then again, I think, that every singer that you put on Ed's place, will sound - at least in the beginning - like an Idol type of guy Pokey described, that just covers Live. But I think we need to get used to that and ofcourse hear more from it. It will also be quite different when they will create new orginal music with the singer, in which we aren't used to a certain voice.

The thing that really excited me was that you cleary hear sooo well that this is LIVE playing again and not the same as Ed's coverband playing. This is just played with energy, and that's awesome.

Really excited to hear new LIVE play White, Discussion again for example, without restrictions, without borders, without someone putting the drumms behind glass. They freed themselves and will rock again for us. Thank God & Merry Christmas to all!

It's like the worst parts of V combined with the worst parts of SFBM combining and stripping the song of any and all vestiges of authenticity and replacing it with the dickery of sonic and aural masturbation.

At least Nickelback are more efficient.

2 things.

1. There is no falsetto in the new version of All Over You. Should you actually think there is, I believe that you need to have your hearing checked.

2. If you actually enjoyed that video, you have no credibility as a Live fan.

3 things...

1. my hearing is fine and i hear falsetto. not a lot but it's there.

2. the video was okay by me. I don't try and find things to dig on ed about unlike most of you.
I can like the video if i want to like it. doesn't have anything to do with if i am a live fan or not...my god you're an idiot. What an asinine statement.

3. fuck off. rockin.gif
