Absolutely they know how to perform well in a band and create music. The business side of things, so far they have not shown much. Movie and real estate? I'm not even going to go there.

To me it definitely sounds like a cleaned up recording. I've heard enough studio vs. live recordings to at least be able to throw out my opinion.

Well that's 2 things you don't know about, music and business.

The Real Estate market is down, so if you can buy now, it's clearly the time. It's called good business. Clearly they have the capital to do it, so why not strike while the iron is hot. The music business isn't what it used to be, and sitting back and expecting to count entirely on music is bad business. It's always better to be multifaceted with your business model.

As for the recording, it's been confirmed by people in the know that it is a live recording that was not doctored. So you can keep on believing your lie, but you are wrong.

I'm guessing they do have the advantage of being in a studio, which includes mic placement, multiple takes, etc....they can get that cleaner sound. But if you think this clip has been mastered, I'd say that is highly unlikely. It's in a controlled environment, but it seems to just be a rehearsal.
After a couple more listens, I'd say the band is playing pretty tight right now. I think the new singers voice is pretty good, but its not "great" to me. I think the new album has a chance of being be pretty good, and I'm hoping they can make it great like my favorite band of old.

I'm guessing this was meant as a dig against CT, but all of those ventures are part of what makes me a fan of his. I think being multi-faceted and diverse is quite an exciting way to live, and I think he's done a damn fine job at all of those things. He hasn't had anything handed to him, worked his ass off to self-promote and produce movies, records, bands. I'm impressed. They have all been quality items, regardless of their sales success, which is often a poor measure of true quality.

Live to me was never about the lead singer it was about the sound and the energy they produced.

Of course it's not Ed of old. Everyone already knew it wouldn't be. But the guy fits Live's sound the same way William DuVall fits Alice In Chains. He doesn't sound exactly like Layne, but the guy sounds damn good regardless. And so does whoever this guy is.
