See what I mean by the fact you don't need to bait Nick on? He does a fine job of making a dick of himself. I think it's fair enough for someone to feel a bit disillusioned by it. Its a big adjustment to make, but that you've heard better in a kareoke bar? That's just hating for hating sake. If this was posted in a live cover contest here we'd be heaping unlimited amounts of praise on the best cover this board has produced.

Saying its inferior but to be quite happy with how Ed's band performs the songs is a huge slap in the face to CCP and their importance. And again how can you be a Live fan? If you think this is unacceptable then surely you'd have to think his band is too. If you don't then you really must not be able to see past a lead singer and completely under appreciate music.
I'm still a little apprehensive, I liked the clip but it might still take some getting used to before "that moment" hits.

It's just the actions of a sad bitter person who wants an idol like his hulk hogan more than great music. It's someone who likes the idea of a lead singer and idol to blindly cling to than anything else. Ed has been put on such a huge pedastal that I'd fear for Nick's well being if something should happen and he falls in Nick's eyes.

So having said that, fuck off Nick, youve heard new Live now and don't like it. Leave. The majority of us are excited as hell and if other people don't like it then that's fine, they don't like it for I'm sure genuine and rational reasons. You don't like it because of some crazed obaessive smear campaign and desire to see the band fail. That attitude isn't needed here. Not now.

Looks like we'll all just have to have fun with the new material while he stews in his own negative juices. And reall that's what it's about, us having fun with the music, not if it falls flat with the masses or doesn't chart. Because honestly it probably won't, you're taking an already unpopular, one hit wonder, forgotten band and if you expect them to tear the world apart then your mistaken. Live was recognized all too briefly for their greatness, they had all the attention put one a single album and then any chance they had of restoring respectability to the masses was killed when Ed went weird and bereft of creativity post 2000 and took over the band to drive it into the ground. You can't expect this to do well after the lows he took it to.
It's like a president running the country into the ground and expecting his successor to come in and fix it all in his first term. For Nick to take pleasure in how badly Live will do is only a testament to his one eyed devotion as he clearly ignores how bad Live were doing under the one man band banner.

I didn't think Live with a new lead singer would work for me, but I gotta say I like it. I really fucking like it and I'm officially excited to hear more. You can feel the energy and passion, and the dude can sing. Pretty cool early XMas present.

Nick, I really never really spend much time getting too upset by you, or comment against you, but you are just incredibly ridiculous. Karaoke guy, really? I know you don't like CC&P, but for the love of god, why do you feel so personally slighted by them? They are 3/4 of the band you supposedly loved. Both sides (EK and CC&P) have had their share of wrong-doing in this whole situation, but I think even an unbiased person can say that while CC&P were more vocal about things, Ed was the main reason for the animosity and break. That aside, even though I am not a fan of Ed now, I will always think of him as one of my musical heroes for what he brought to my life. Why don't you feel similarly about CC&P?

Not to mention that you want the new singer to "make the song his own." What does that even mean? He has to try and stay somewhat true to the original song; therefore, he will inevitably sing some parts of the songs similarly.

I don't think anyone here would disagree that nothing will compare the original songs as they were in the '90's (Ed's voice before 2001 was, to me, a near-perfect rock voice), but that's not the point. The reason why the true Live fans are at partly least excited by this is because we finally hear "Live" coming through our speakers. This is not necessarily because of the new singer, but b/c we finally here CC&P playing their hearts out again. If that alone doesn't make you happy, then you really should consider leaving the Live forum for good.

check out the 2 version layover I posted a few pages back, you can hear the similiarities and the differences. Sounds awesome for 2011. Can't be the 93 recorded version but you have to commend the talent level to do it justice with emotion!!!! Can't wait to hear more!!!

I had 3 friends - not live fans after TC but people who owned TC in high school - listen. 2 of them didn't know it wasn't the original recording. The third said "is that the same singer?" but I had to tell the other two. I think many many casual fans will not notice if this recording is an indication.
