Ed was not being egotistical or being a dickhead with the Chris Cornell posts.

Ed preferred that CC played some gospel. He was also talking about his own religious views. Nothing offensive about how Ed made these comments. In general he was being friendly or was just joking around. It doesn't make him a dickhead. It doesn't make him egotistical. Some people here just sound absurd. Also, was there really anything that would suggest that Ed was intoxicated while posting? I don't see it, not that it matters. Being tipsy doesn't prove that Ed was being more or less truthful.

being tipsy showed his true feelings for something, him deleting the post goes to show how he ha to hide himself.

Bre, most of us who see through that stuff are not absurd. No need to defend someone who is undefendable.

He deleted his posts, hiding what he said. That sort of reaction is definitely not forthcoming. But, that doesn't make him egotistical, or a dickhead, or drunk. I'm not trying to defend the guy. I'm just putting your nonsense in perspective.

I don't necessarily believe that it's dick-head Territory either but it is disheartening. Most of us prefer the spiritually free Ed and not that locked-down Christian Ed that is clamping his creativity. If the man has lost all appreciation for music that isn't "Gospel" then it's yet another realization that Ed is gone forever (wooo-huuuu in falsetto because I said "forever")

Ok, he's Christian.
Ok, he's going to make Christian centric music
Not OK, to truly believe that Chris Cornell (or anyone for that matter) is failing to live up to their potential because their lyrics and music isn't Pro-Christian Gospel or whatever. It's judgemental. It IMO, it's only not dickholish because I realize that's the blind clap-trap that newly founded religious people fall into.

This is all coming from a man who still sings songs that were written from a position against established dogmatic religion.

You just summed up perfectly my biggest problem with organized religions and their followers, especially Christianity. They are taught to accept all people, but instead they seem to be the ones that look down on others that are different the most. It infuriates me.

Ed did seem to send out mixed messages. On one hand he was saying that Chris has a great voice, and would have a great voice for gospel. On the other hand, Ed felt the need to publicly say that he didn't like Cornell's show, since it wasn't more focused on a higher power. The allegation is so ridiculous that it almost seems like it could be promo to his religious fanbase. I don't know if what Ed said is really his "heart of hearts." But if it was a ploy, then I'd say Lennon's song "Imagine" takes a big shot at religion in general, and I could see Ed trying to play towards his fan base by taking a jab at a dark alt rocker who's singing a blasphemous track, even though Ed seems to show respect for the beatles and chris at the same time. Seems like that angle would only work if his fan base was mostly unfamiliar with how Ed covered Imagine back in the day.

I agree its disheartening, i'm not in that religious fanbase of his. It was judgmental, but I guess he's entitled to his opinion. I'm not even sure that Ed is 100% behind the shit he says. We're talking about a guy who claims to have immediately become head over heals Christian cause he saw a painting, despite making songs declaring the opposite about religion, and standing by that for a long time. That and Live have always promoted themselves to their demographic, this might have just been Ed doing more of the same promo crap, just strategically aimed at his new demographic.

Was something about seeing some painting and then instantly knowing his search was over and that Jesus was the true light he'd been searching for all these years. Don't remember the exact story.
