So by spreading his wings and moving in a new direction meant leaving Live but continuing to play Live songs?

He is able to create whatever music he wants to and tour wherever he would like without the constraints of being in a band.

The LIVE songs bring the fans to the show where he can introduce him to his new music.

Makes sense, a lot of folks do this.
Why is this an issue, who cares?

To me it sounded like he wanted to move on from LIVE - he wanted to do his own thing and write and perform new songs. He even did this for a while. Now he's promoting himself as Ed from Live, plays the majority of his sets with LIVE songs and throws a couple of new ones in hoping someone will buy the shit.

Good luck to him but it just seems like what he wanted to do didn't work and now he's just going back to what brings him the bucks.

oooooh . . . . . . I see.

Although I think he's going too far with it, again it's his prerogative, he's definitely using "Live" as a selling point for his gain.
I wonder if CCP is seething over this stuff?

Talk about a kick in the guts for CCP. They're trying to get Live going again with a new lead singer as well as some new tracks while they've got their ex-lead singer going around using the Live name to promote himself for as far as he can milk it.

Move on Ed you loser. Move on or fuck off.

There is no seething over this. Ed's got every right to perform these songs. He makes all his $$ from it, the solo shit brings zilch. Wait for next year. The way the old hits are performed by Ed now make me cringe. It should make all old school live fans cringe.

Furthermore......compare that brazil ed site of STD, TC version, a TC boot version and the clip Live posted last week. What would you rather hear? A powerful version or the circa 2011 carnival version? Ask yourself that question.....do you feel lucky?

that edk brasil video is exactly the problem. Live song after live song, and 1:30 into a 2 minute video, the new songs are actually played. I get that it's the Live songs that bring people to the shows. but if 2/3 of the songs on the setlists are Live songs, he's not even giving people a chance to really hear the new stuff.
I enjoyed the Alive cd (though it doesn't compare to old Live) and I've seen Ed solo and will again. But I don't see Ed solo to hear Live songs. I love them, I still love his voice, but it's ridiculous to continue to claim to be "moving on" and "changing direction" if he's just going to keep playing mostly Live songs.

And it brings up an interesting problem. What if Ed gets some new fans with his Christian music and they show up to a concert and he is playing old Live songs, taking his shirt off and swiveling his hips?

He hasn't taken off his shirt at all since he's gone solo. During the majority of Ed's solo performances you got to hear at least half of Alive(sometimes more). His solo work is well represented, as well as the LIVE material.

One of those, you are guessing on, the other one is a lie.

The shirt, yeah I bet its come off. It's his nature. As for his solo work being well represented, that's not true. Most of his setlists are 75% Live, 25% EK solo. That's not well represented.

Even if he only played one Live song it could still present an issue for some fans that were brought to his show because of Alive.

Granted, it depends on which ones he plays because some Live songs can be interpreted many different ways.

Just a question. I'd hate for fans of Ed to be misled like we all know new Live is going to be misleading people by having a new lead singer.
