Nice to hear they are doing something good for the community over and above their awesome music!

One question..... Would Ed qualify for a lead singer bonus for their investment?

As someone very familiar with the Reading area, I would suggest that they rename their investment company along the same lines as their record company and call it "Questionable Investments". The city of Reading has been on a downward spiral for 40 years. Huge drug trafficing problem. Stray bullets killing children on the streets. Inept politicians. School systems that are unfit for a third world country. You can't walk the street at night without carrying an uzi. I wish them luck, and I am always rooting for the City of Ready to improve, but this is not where I would invest my million dollars.

I agree. I don't know why I am beng so grumpy. Maybe I am grumbly because I am frustrated about the wait and the false starts with the band. And maybe part of me hopes that if enough of us die hard fans demonstrate our honest frustration, that might say something to the band. A little tough love perhaps. And part of it is me just trying to be funny. But basically, I just call them like I see them.

With respect to the investment in inner-city Reading real estate - I was just answering that honestly. It seems like a risky investment. Reading has a bad reputation and a bad track record. I am somewhat familiar with Reading real estate and rental properties. And real estate development projects in general can be very risky. I hope that they are getting a bunch of city, county, state and/or federal tax incentives and other development subsidies to make the numbers work. It sounds like the commercial/retail space has a decent occupancy rate. Hopefully the residential units can succeed. But I think it will be a challenge to get the kind of people who are interested in artsy stainless steal appliances to move to 9th street in Reading. Typically, urban residential developments need to be supported by a massive redevelopment effort that includes nearby offices and businesses, restaurants and shopping in order to make it an attractive place to live. And it needs to be safe. Right now, Reading is losing businesses and those who live in the inner city are primarily below the poverty line.

It's not like their home town is any better. We had 3 shootings in York City last night, 2 of them resulted in fatalities.
