Zion is an overtly Christian song. They all are on Alive. It takes all the mystery and fun out of it and reduces these songs to mission-styled, doctrinal preaching points. I don't like that. If Zion was a song about discovering "the one" in a desert, while getting fellatio in front of a fish on the banks of a river at the moment the world ends - then it might be something...

Wow, did you actually put "talent" in quotations? You make him sound like Sammy Hagar. Who do you think wrote the lyrics for Live's best songs? He's definitely lost his way, but to question whether he has talent or not is ridiculous.

If a miracle happened, and he walked on stage right now with CCP, don't you think he could rock it?

Man, you're over-analyzing this stuff. So, I can't like Zion because it's overtly Christian? Can I like anything off TDTH that deals with Zen Buddhism?

How about this, I like it because of Ed's singing, the piano and acoustic guitar, and the imagery of destroying one's enemies. When I'm rocking it at the gym, I'm not thinking about Christ. Music is the highest form of art, and if it uplifts you, who gives a fuck what genre it is?

I agree with you that Alive sucks. But, I think that the magic of the old Ed shines through on Zion.

Zion is by far the best song on the album, and it's Christian rock but it's a good CR song, and those are hard to come by. That video, in which his voice is great, is really disappointing and I am glad I have not seem him do this song acoustic if that's how it's going to be. More energy is necessary.
