I actually thought a NYE show in the PA area.

Is that based on anything info or just a total stab in the dark?

Stab in the dark. I figured it would have made sense for an October announcement.

The problem was that they hyped it as a major announcement(which many fans took as a new show announcement or something similar). If they had just said, "we are going to be on the radio today at 5:30 to talk about a new cause that we are really excited about", none of the non-met expectations would have happened.

I don't see anywhere where anyone called it a "major" announcement. They posted that they would be making an announcement about an hour before they did it, that isn't really a whole ton of hype. Everyone (not just you) is acting like they had been stroking us on this for weeks.

And, they did announce a show during the interview, didn't they?

(Dammit I broke my rule, but this is in response to Pokey too)

There is a history of overhype and false promises when it comes to CCP. They tend to jump the gun at times, and can't always back up what they say or promise.

It is great that CCP are promoting charities. But I wouldn't scold the fans for not investing in these charities, as well as scold for asking questions about the band. We follow CCP for the great music. I assume that if someone wanted to donate to charity, they would probably be a charity website instead. Curiosity for their music is a compliment, and something that CCP should probably only be grateful for.

I wouldn't say scolding, more like disappointment. I would say that being disappointed in fans for not living up to your hopes and donating to your cause should be understood, especially in these though economic times.

It's not that fans aren't concerned or kind hearted. Many people simply are having difficulty themselves and have to cut back on all spending due to personal situations.

Live over-promised and under-delivered all the time. This isn't anything new or just pertaining to CCP.

And how much of Live was out of the control of the four individuals from the record labels? How much of Live was out of the control of CCP from Ed the last few years?

Maybe there's a lot at play behind the scenes?

There's no doubt that the record label scuttled a number of Live's plans but the members of Live are responsible for their fair share of unfulfilled promises.

I have to agree with Nick and World Dreamer and others here. I know that it is CT's way to shoot first and think later when it comes to sharing his ideas. But I have to admit that I thought that after Ed's departure and CCP getting a newfound connection with the fans on scial media, that the all-too-predictable disappointments and unfullfilled promises would be a thing of the past. As a long-time Live fanatic and Homespun member, I can say with all candor that Live has let me down on my expectations so many times that I stopped having expectations and yet I still felt left down. Don't even make me go through the list of disappointing, late holiday gifts, special announcements, special shows, merchandise, musical choices, false characterizations about each successively-declining album, and show decisions that have made me feel like I was left standing at the alter. The follow-through on TGF has been disappointing to me as a fan. TGF had such greatness, and I feel like it has vanished before my eyes. The live recordings they sold were such poior quality, I couldn't listen to it. They promised touring in the Sumnmner, then the Fall, and now they announce some unspecified show in March 2012. Living in their area, I thought I would get mnore chances to see them play together. Now, I wouldn't be surprised if it goes quietly away. And the new Live lead singer and website that is still waiting to be launched? The wait is frustrating. I keep hearing how great all this will be but I have heard it all before. We'll see... In my heart, Live has been cashing in on the enormous capital account they accrued from their first 4 albums for a really long time. At some point the account is going to run dry. I hope they make another contribution soon.

As die hard fans, most of us will always be here for when Live is ready to do something, but at the same time any momentum they gain they end up losing because of all the things we have mentioned.

It is tough to restart past success with this happening. I mean, if we (the die hard fans) are getting tired of it then do you think there is even a remote chance that casual fans are likely to stick around? Because there is a LOT of new music coming at them all the time from all directions.
