wow, so because his band donates his record to charity (one that has been out for over a year) he thinks he has the right to cut down his fans for asking about the state of the band? AFTER he posted this spring there would be more touring in the fall?

ook.

TGF try to get people involved to help out those in need and they get slapped down for it. And THEN they get slapped down for calling people out for slapping them down.

Typical iEra we're living in.

i think the charity is great and more bands should do things like that, i just thought his words to his biggest fans wondering what the band was up to was a little strong.

i highly doubt anyone has a problem with the band helping others with their music. hes simply using that against us in his post which pissed me off. i commented on FB, im sure he read it.

Without reading the comments from the disgruntled fans I'm guessing no one knocked the charity and gracious giveaway. Don't get me wrong...it's great that they are helping the cause, but it's also a shit announcement. I guess any announcement that is hyped/advertised in social media these days is going to get our attention. It's only natural to get praise and negativity in return almost instantly. We are greedy bastards that want new music, new shows and free shit.

I dont think Im greedy, there has been plenty of new music released in 2011 that I can enjoy as well as TGF record from last year. I dont NEED new music from them, I just wish they would shoot from the hip and be open with us ...

instead they left us guessing as to the state of the band for months, post that an announcement is *COMING* and then they say they are donating an album (that we have all purchased multiple times) to a charitable organization. THEN when fans ask well... what can we expect from THE BAND? he gets all up in arms saying we are self-serving fans who should listen to corporate rock. uncalled for.

I think many need to realize that the way TGF has interacted with us fans, is like no other, time, conversation, good time and Fantastic music. Real men with families, time committments, etc.

We've become a spoiled brat nation........new generations of people who demand that they are owed something...............TGF really doesn't owe us anything. When they can do IT, their way, the RIGHT way.....it will be DONE.

That is ALL!!

I've found TGF to be extremely open about what they are doing, to a fault. That is actually why we hear about things (Fall tour, EP, even smack about Ed) that we probably really shouldn't. They haven't swept under the rug that Candlebox has been touring and recording, and that Live is recording.

Didn't they announce a show in March during the segment? Or did that come out somewhere else?

hey D, you haven't been here a lot to read on things going on a lot lately. As it's been stated by funky, CT's been more than upfront with saying Live and CBox are doing things near term and TGF was going to wait a bit.

Yeah, I knew what was going on... but they never made an official statement on their FB or whatever. Im extremely excited for the new Candlebox record, but Im going to be honest, the last Gracious Few record BLEW "Into The Sun" away, so as you can imagine, I cant wait to hear more from them.

They've posted a lot about Candlebox, to my recollection. Not in great detail no, but I think that is just the way of an independent band that is sandwiched between two bigger bands I think. From what I can gather, it seems that things just kept changing. I have no doubt that they worked on getting a Fall tour, but these things don't always work out (other bands, funding, putting a crew together, etc.). It's the blessing and curse of not having major label backing. We get a lot more info, but it may not all pan out.

I totally agree with you on the Candlebox record (and the past three Live records). I'd love more TGF, but it seems like folks are still approaching Candlebox (and now Live) with opportunities, leaving TGF in a funny spot. I really just want to see a Live/Candlebox/TGF tour once Live gets things rolling.

It might be just me, but I always felt we'd get that one tour and album, and that anything beyond that would be a bonus. I made sure to milk those for all they were worth. smile.gif

The problem was that they hyped it as a major announcement(which many fans took as a new show announcement or something similar). If they had just said, "we are going to be on the radio today at 5:30 to talk about a new cause that we are really excited about", none of the non-met expectations would have happened.

I reluctantly agree, common sense dictated that it wasn't going to be a tour or new album with the Live/Cbox stuff going on, but I thought, maybe a new track or a live recording or something.
Its admirable and you can't knock them for trying to do some good in this world, maybe just a better execution or choice of words.

Then again calling it a "major announcement" got people's attention and if they were trying to draw people in to let them know about the cause, that's one way.

I'm not pissed at it though, they mentioned it only once a few hours before it happened, it wasn't like they were hyping a major announcement for weeks on end only for it to be this. Just treating it like it never happened.
