Dropbox, A great way to store, sync and share files! Options

Hello everyone,

This is, admittedly, an advert for a piece of kit I use called Dropbox. But please bare with me before moving on because Dropbox really is brilliantly useful, I promise.

Dropbox is basically a program that you can download to the various computers/laptops you use and even your mobile devices (iPhone, Android, Blackberry), and then store files within it. Whenever you store on one device, it automatically syncs onto the other. For example, if I drag a picture into my Dropbox folder here on my laptop and then open the Dropbox app on my iPhone, it will be there! Syncage! No need to carry stuff on a USB stick or print it out; if I know I might need to access something whilst I'm out and about, I'll simply put it in the Dropbox.

It's also GREAT for sharing files; you can set up shared folders with other Dropbox users and when one person adds to it, the other person gets a notification saying that something new is there. I use it extensively with my film making group at university; we're constantly updating our folder and adding new pieces of documentation that we need; the sound designer keeps adding files for the editor to use, etc. It's really, really useful. Everyone can access, add to and organize it. Sharing is caring, and it's very easy with Dropbox.

I have it, so far I like it. Haven't had much use for it yet, but it's good to know my files are safe online. Over the years I've had about 4 windows based laptops which crashed. I had backed up most, but was never up to date and lost a lot. I have a mac now and so far so good, but better safe than sorry.

There's a free version to try out, everyone should!

Yep all pieces of crap! Gateway being the best out of the bunch, HP being the worst, all with the worst customer service. I love my mac

As it happens, I had tonnes of help from people yesterday/the day before and filled up my entire quota. Now I can't receive any more free space for referrals. But still, I recommend you check Dropbox out. 'Tis the bomb.

Illustration job for a greetings card publisher. Found Dropbox a great way to get around the limitations of most email clients. Ipad2 eh? In addition to the Macbook!? I spent a small fortune on this thing but it's really been worth it. My desktop pc seems so clunky and awkward by comparison. So how come you're looking to spend on some new hardware? Business/pleasure? (both in my case!)

Sounds good. I didn't actually end up buying a Macbook Pro... cause I'm a pussy... and my current laptop still does a really, really great job. And it's business and pleasure, for sure. Would be a great tool to have for business (will probably find more uses for it when I've got it as well) but also very nice for pleasure.
