I'm hoping it's not Shinn. I like that Radiohead cover just fine and he's alright, but does he really have what it takes to be a part of Live?

yeh dunno.

but Ed Kowalczyk sure dont

I am a lot more excited about hearing a possible new Live record with Chris Shinn than I would be with Ed.

Yea - Ed has a hard time cutting it these days. I could see Ed doing it if he wrote some really good songs. But no matter what, I know he can't bring the rock vocally anymore.

But still - I don't know that Chris is cutting it either.

Hoping for a great rock singer/songwriter.

Again it may not even be this Chris Shinn guy right?

To me he doesn't have the most unique voice, he sings a lot in that almost whispered kind of way. Ed does have an incredibly distinctive voice. And if it is Chris Shinn, whilst it may sound ok, it won't have that "this could only be one man singing" sound to it like Ed has. Which is a for better or worse kind of thing.
But I doubted Kevin Martin when I first checked out some Candlebox when it was announced that he was the singer, and I wasn't blown away and was kind of dubious. Even now I only like a handful of Candlebox songs, I much preferred his Hi Watts solo album.
But I was absolutely blown away by his performance with TGF. Whether it was the music that just lifted him up and melded so well, I'm not sure. But any doubt I had was completely shattered.
So the prospect of Chris Shinn isn't giving me goosebumps of excitement, but I am willing to give it a shot if it is him because it could just be another Kevin Martin situation.

His voice is definitely a specific taste, but have you listened to Everything Is Energy? He's got the vocals now (that is his most recent project) to be really aggressive but also make great melodies. He didn't always have that aggressive side but now that he does it's fantastic. Kind of Jeremy Enigk (Sunny Day Real Estate) meets Raine Maida (Our Lady Peace).

I like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gPflCzOPk8

Also, if it is him, he plays guitar so the band wouldn't have an added guitarist like TGF did.

BTW -- what the hell is TGP? You have it 3 seprate times in 2 different posts.

TGP would be a typo. I think it was pretty clear I meant TGF.

Maybe I was subconsciously trying to be cool by spelling "Few" with a "Ph".

You've revealed my inept typing. I'll go back and edit.
