QUOTE(Aitkens @ Sep 28 2011, 10:43 pm) *

Imagine spending your entire life being part of a group. That group succeeded, and did very big things. A member of the group left, and now people are telling you that everything you did in your life was insignificant, and that your contribution to the group was ultimately nothing and insignificant compared to the member that left. I think you'd be upset by those comments.

Through the bickering of the last 2 years (and more) You have brought up a very good point. A personal point. I wonder what Troll would say about this?

That's why I think these people need to show a little respect and bite their tongues. Their rude comments are only devaluing the contribution of 3 band members. Sit back, keep your mouth shut and wait for the music. If you ultimately don't like it, that's fine. Just give it a damn shot first.

....if it was just Ed Pat and CG in Live and CT was forced out, and some people were saying it wouldn't be Live without CT, I don't think we'd be hearing all this fuss.

I don't know how people can not expect these comments from people, its like an elephant in the living room. typically band members don't communicate with their fans, it has never been this way in the past, so these little spats were not an issue. people have been dishing out their point of view on their bands since bands began, and that's how it should be.

at the end of the day they just need to bust out some good tunes, otherwise i could give a fuck about all their passion and moving forward. Its on their shoulders. Dont fucking let me down again live! I wanna be able to look people in the eye when i name you as my favourite band, Ed, Ned or drop dead Fred!

If a band I liked mostly for the lead singer had the lead singer leave I wouldn't be sitting around following the rest of them and bitching. It's going to achieve nothing. I'd move on find new stuff and listen to the old stuff the band made with the lead singer I liked.

If I didn't want to seem so shallow and liked the band as a whole and the singer left then I'd be cautious about what was coming next but since I still like what the remaining members in the band can bring I'll give it a chance to hear what they come up with. If I like it then awesome, new music for me! If I don't then I leave.

In either scenario sitting around bitching at the band and telling them they're nothing without their former lead singer is not something that helps anyone.

besides the guy made a fair point.

hes not saying they're nothing

hes saying no ed....no live.

maybe if they lose 1/4th of the band, they become something else. doesn't sound too crazy to me.

Nope don't agree. I'm all for differing opinions spawning discussions where you share ideas and can learn things. You'd know all about that with your devils advocate gimmick.
Just because you're a fan of a band doesn't mean you have to agree with every single thing they do I agree.

Be cautious and a little apprehensive sure, but, if you want to make such big all encompassing statements like "no Ed, no Live" or do as Nick did and asked to be "counted out". Then what's the point in staying there and bringing an otherwise really positive vibe down?
Just move the fuck on it's that simple.
If you want to completely devalue CCP to the point that they're nothing without Ed, then why bother following them. Go and follow Ed and leave the people who want to go along for the Live ride in peace going forward. What's so hard about walking away when you have another alternative? The complete lack of disrespect to CCP's contributions obviously means you'd not get anything out of Live that you aren't already getting with Ed's band.

As I say it doesn't mean no negative thoughts at all, maybe some new music comes out and it's not to everyone's liking, talk about that then. There's a world of difference between all of that and the level that some people are at where they act like Nick.
So what's the point in venting about a band you're not a fan of anymore. Just go instead.
And if you say what's the point in bitching about other people bitching because it won't change anything, then what's the point in them bitching in the first place. It's not gonna change anything, Ed is gone.
The whole thing is pointless to complain about in the first place. Ed made his bed so him and his fans have to lie in it now.

I don't know how anyone can comment on Live with or without Ed until we hear the music.

My love of Live has always gone beyond Ed - Gracey has got to be one of the best drummers I have ever heard in terms of his style. Combined with Pat, the two of them create an awesome rhythm. CT is probably one of the most creative musicians going and all of these guys (including Ed) have been an inspiration to my life for a long time. Personally I can't wait to hear what these guys come up with next - I'm sure its going to be awesome. Will it be to everone's taste? I really don't care. I will always listen to whatever they bring out and I'll probably buy the tracks as well.

To the people who want to judge these guys before they hear anything I say keep an open mind and pull your heads in until you hear what they have to offer us all.

It's the possessive nature of some fans that is bothersome. Holding onto and defining something so strongly that you feel the need to make those types of statements to the band is going over the line. It's nice that Live has made that strong of an impression but you really need to loosen your hold on it. Especially since Live is moving on.

maybe their opinion is that it's not a positive vibe to begin with

assuming you meant to say a complete lack of "respect"....
it doesn't necessarily show a complete lack of respect
nor is it obvious or that he necessarily did not get anything out of live that he isn't getting out of Ed.
no idea where you are getting these ideas

yea we'll see if you really feel that way when it happens

bitching is a little bit like what you're doing here.
i'd say this fan wasn't bitching exactly, hes not going on and on about it.
he just hoped for more love within the band.

you can say the same thing when everyone was hating on ed's direction.....why were they being so possessive and holding onto and defining something so strongly.....

who says that guy was being so "possessive" anyway

Holding onto one's fantasy of Live so strongly that you'll post those comments directly to the band is entirely possessive and smacks of someone who doesn't have a distinction between their fantasy and the real world. I wouldn't advocate any fan posting stuff like that directly to any public figure.

The fact that you take one little dissenting comment and turn it into this idea of being entirely possessive just shows how possessive you are of you ccp fantasy.
