QUOTE(SJN1279 @ Sep 28 2011, 7:46 pm) *

LIVE was a rarity in the music business, and it was a large part of their appeal.

It clearly wasn't enough.

After Ed, as OuttoDry put it, mailed it in for over a decade, it was time that they removed Ed from the band and moved on. They will be better suited for success without his silly, transparent lyrics.

They didn't remove Ed it was a mutual split, and didn't they ask him back earlier this year?

Chad Taylor contacted Ed earlier this year to be part of LIVE. He mentioned it in a blog, and you even said that Ed refused.

Last July they wanted to meet with Ed to discuss the future of LIVE, and Ed didn't want to continue with the band(at this point anyway).

The hiatus seemed to be a band decision, but then CCP definitely gave Ed the boot. CCP might have thought about asking Ed back (though who the hell knows), but we have no idea if Chad popped the question or if Ed gave an answer. Their communication has not been clarified well.....Chad mentioned getting in touch with Ed and we have CG saying that they can't get Ed to communicate....so who knows.

Start with removing your head from the dark space of Ed's ass then maybe you'll see some light.

CT said they were meeting with Ed to discuss live. He never said meeting to ask Ed to come back. Saying that this is what happened is nothing but pure speculation. They could have talked churchbox demos and other unreleased, they could have talked extending the hiatus. It could have been CT laying down the law "we're restarting Live, are you in or are you out?"."you can come back if you want but these are our terms.." Whatever. To say he specifically asked Ed back is just believing what you want to believe and you're not looking at it through open eyes. Seeing what you want go see. This is vintage Nick behavior.

You guys are amazing at taking interesting discussion and turning it into the same tired arguments. We were talking about Journey because of who they chose as their lead singer, not whether it was successful, consistent, or anything like that. Absurd.

QUOTE(SJN1279 @ Sep 28 2011, 7:46 pm) *

Journey also only has one original bandmember that has stayed with the band since 1973. They seem to change band members in and out constantly. It is a totally different situation than a band like LIVE that had the same 4 band members touring together from inception to roughly 20 years later. LIVE was a rarity in the music business, and it was a large part of their appeal.

Look at the list of Journey band members:

Band members

Current members
Neal Schon – lead guitar, vocals (1973–present)
Ross Valory – bass, vocals (1973–1985, 1995–present)
Jonathan Cain – keyboards, rhythm guitar, vocals (1980–present)
Deen Castronovo – drums, percussion, vocals (1998–present)
Arnel Pineda – lead vocals (2007–present)
Irving Azoff – manager (1993–present)

Former members
George Tickner – rhythm guitar (1973–1975)
Gregg Rolie – keyboards, harmonica, vocals (1973–1980)
Aynsley Dunbar – drums, percussion (1974–1978)
Robert Fleischman – lead vocals (1977)
Steve Perry – lead vocals (1977–1998)
Steve Smith – drums, percussion (1978–1985, 1995–1998)
Randy Jackson – bass, vocals (1985–1987)
Steve Augeri – lead vocals, guitar (1998–2006)
Herbie Herbert – manager (1973–1993)
Touring members
Prairie Prince – drums, percussion (1973–1974)
Mike Baird – drums, percussion (1986–1987)
Jeff Scott Soto – lead vocals (2006–2007)
Session musicians
Stevie "Keys" Roseman – keyboards (1980)
Larrie Londin – drums, percussion (1985–1986)
Bob Glaub – bass (1986)

Chad actually wrote an email to me in March stating that Ed doesn't want to be part of LIVE at the moment, but his spot will always be there for him to take. Take it for what you will.

He wrote you an email?

Whatever which way you look at it, Ed is doing his thing, Live are doing their thing. Get used to it. Listen to Ed do his thing till your heart's content, just stop shitting on Live and let people enjoy what we've been waiting over 10 years for.

Really, I'm betting it's a reply to your inquiry. But, this was common knowledge from his blogs.
