Hey I'm a long time lurker. Think i'm been reading this site since it first came to the surface.
Never posted her before. Been a Live fan since i saw I alone on MTV in 95.
I been to two Live shows, one gracious few show in London and Ed in Oslo Norway ( where i'm from). I'm more of a Gracious Few fan then ED fan because he has become so soft and because of all the bullshit he has done in the recent years. I also to like my rock over soft poprock. Even though i went to his show in Oslo because he has been a huge part of my life in so many years. His show was actually pretty great.

Enough about me.

I was checking out youtube and came across this guy.

He could be a good replacement for ED great.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1Mw7OSzIZM

I will be more active on this site since I'm feeling excited about Live again. It's been along time since TDTH which in my prospective is the last great Live record.

I love this site and i'm checking it for news every day.

Keep this site going guys.

Talk to you later.

Magnus

the guy is great, however... i hope i dont offend anyone here but the accent would ruin it for me. Sorry if that comes across as racist but it just would irritate me as i would be far too aware of it. Both my parents were croatian immigrants so maybe I'm biased because i still have their annoying wog accents penetrating my thoughts....

live needs to have an american singer in my opinion for what its worth

Interesting! Well, either way I'm excited to see what he comes up with! I don't think this discounts the Live rumors though, and could even support them if you consider that they are taking their time getting it started.

I definitely think grabbing someone who looks and sounds like Ed would be the wrong way to go. The lead singer changes that have worked in the past usually involved someone with an entirely new voice and look.

i don't know any bands that get a new singer that is like the old one. i guess look doesn't matter nearly as much as weather the new guy can rock and write songs. ....i don't know how i'd feel about a new guy singing pre-tdth stuff either.

Journey and Judas Priest...they both got new singers that didn't look like teh old one, but sounded EXACTLY like them.

As excited as I am to hear whatever new music comes out of this, I have to agree with you that I am nervous on that part of it. It isn't that I don't think they should do it, they can really do whatever they want, I just don't know whether I'll be able to really enjoy it or not.

But, similarly, I didn't really enjoy Ed's renditions of the songs in recent years either.

There are a lot of groups who get a really similar lead singer, they are normally older groups though (Journey, etc.). The only recent example that comes to mind is Alice in Chains, but the guy couldn't look any more different.

Dang Bre-man I like you when you're talking music instead of making bizarre arguments. smile.gif

journey's doing alright, right? haha. Not familiar w. judas.........but i mean if someone's voice and songwriting ability is just like Ed's in his prime, I'd be good with that.

Journey is doing great by recent reports on the TV. I think another member of Judas Priest called it quits recently.

They are but I mean, Steve Perry left in the '80s and they have tons of huge singles to play. Most of their fans make fun of the new singer but go rock out at the shows anyway.

Journey also only has one original bandmember that has stayed with the band since 1973. They seem to change band members in and out constantly. It is a totally different situation than a band like LIVE that had the same 4 band members touring together from inception to roughly 20 years later. LIVE was a rarity in the music business, and it was a large part of their appeal.

Look at the list of Journey band members:

Band members

Current members
Neal Schon – lead guitar, vocals (1973–present)
Ross Valory – bass, vocals (1973–1985, 1995–present)
Jonathan Cain – keyboards, rhythm guitar, vocals (1980–present)
Deen Castronovo – drums, percussion, vocals (1998–present)
Arnel Pineda – lead vocals (2007–present)
Irving Azoff – manager (1993–present)

Former members
George Tickner – rhythm guitar (1973–1975)
Gregg Rolie – keyboards, harmonica, vocals (1973–1980)
Aynsley Dunbar – drums, percussion (1974–1978)
Robert Fleischman – lead vocals (1977)
Steve Perry – lead vocals (1977–1998)
Steve Smith – drums, percussion (1978–1985, 1995–1998)
Randy Jackson – bass, vocals (1985–1987)
Steve Augeri – lead vocals, guitar (1998–2006)
Herbie Herbert – manager (1973–1993)
Touring members
Prairie Prince – drums, percussion (1973–1974)
Mike Baird – drums, percussion (1986–1987)
Jeff Scott Soto – lead vocals (2006–2007)
Session musicians
Stevie "Keys" Roseman – keyboards (1980)
Larrie Londin – drums, percussion (1985–1986)
Bob Glaub – bass (1986)
