I remember listening to it and thinking I needed a few spins for it to grow on me. Ten complete listens later I remember finding myself pissed about how shitty it was and wanting my money back.

I still, to this day, love Simple Creed. Everything aside from that is pure trash.

I will go ahead and call my own credibility into question.

I didn't have a problem with V. Was it what I would have expected of a new Live album? No. But then, neither was TDTH. In fact, TDTH to me was the beginning of Ed's overuse of falsetto which I found completely disturbing when I first listened to it. Their sound had already changed from the TC days, but V was clearly not where I thought the sound was going.

Was it the best Live album lyrically and musically? Nope. The worst? Possibly. But it was still a new Live album, and I'd still rather listen to the worst Live album than the best by a lot of other bands that have come about since 2001.

Maybe I'm just crazy. Call me a fool smile.gif

V was the first LIVE album that I purchased on release day. Simple Creed is still one of my favorite songs that the band have ever released. Cool video too!

I still enjoy the album and pop it in from time to time.

So this is interesting, you didn't get TDTH on release day? I thought you were a big fan of this record.....and became a fan in 1998/99? I see some cracks in the sidewalk on the way to Mos Eisley.

One thing that stands out about V is the smell of the liner notes. I don't know if it was an Australian thing, but the paper booklet had a strong odour.

Wow. I thought I was the only person in the world who really took notice of the smell of cd insert booklets.

V had a unique smell, but one that I think I'd noticed in other cd's. I don't know if it was ever released with different paper but the one I got had a matte finish. No gloss. That may have had something to do with it.

Speaking of the insert booklets... I never smelled a booklet that had the same scent that Secret Samadhi had. I think I may have smelled another one like Throwing Copper (I think Pet Your Friends by Dishwalla smelled similar), but SS had this very different scent. It really fit the color scheme. If I could compare it to any cologne I've ever smelled? Maybe Emporio Armani. It had kind of a soft, grey-cream scent... if that makes sense.

At least that's what I remember...

I was a fan of LIVE when Throwing Copper came out(back when I was freshmen in HS). I remember getting the cassette tape and being astounded that I was able to listen to Selling the Drama through Shittowne without hitting fast forward(I was never able to listen a cassette that long before).

TDTH was a Xmas present in 1999. I remember listeing to Dolphin's Cry, The Distance, Sparkle and Run to the Water on constant repeat.

I became a LIVE fanatic in summer 2001 after I saw the band perform for the 2nd time(Atlantic City NJ Taj Mahal). I heard them play Simple Creed and Deep Enough and couldn't wait for the album to come out. I was not at all disappointed when it did(it didn't leave my CD player once that entire fall).

Funny those songs performed at that show were very good, much better than the record IMHO.
The band certainly was on the big fall by then (everyone knows why).....I was at that show and it wasn't the best, good, but not the best.... Maybe off because of the big party going on pre and post show. Worm was there.

you hit the nail here thought

I remember the show being amazing.......it was just a lot of fun from beginning to end. I never been to a concert before where I knew and loved all the songs that were played. Rodman coming out at the end was a really cool surprise.

I've seen roughly 65 shows(LIVE/Ed).....most tend to run together.
