Musicians you admire, especially those that most aren't familiar with Options

John Frusciante, but not for his RHCP stuff because he's the only thing I like about them. His solo albums are amazing... apart from Smile From The Streets You Hold which is literally the sound of him dying. There is no other artist I have so much respect for both for his technical ability and him throwing his heart and soul into every aspect of his music. Even his intstrumental tracks are far more emotive than most artist can manage with mere words and I'm forever discovering little layers and nuances in his songs that I've not picked up on before.

And for some reason I absolutely fucking love Adam Carson from AFI. I only have to hear the drum intro to Days Of The Phoenix live and I go weak at the knees. I don't normally notice drumming, but his playing is the pivotal point of AFI's music for me.

Jeff Buckley No matter how much critical acclaim his music receives, it will never be enough. It's just tragic that he died before he reached his full potential.

Trey Spruance- Main guy from Secret Chiefs 3, Mr Bungle... and played guitar on my favourite FNM album. His production on the most recent SC3 album is beautiful. He also runs a record label, which houses heaps of weird bands... sleepytime gorilla museum... estradasphere..mimicry records

Mike Patton- .....

Jeff Buckley- He definitely can't be mentioned enough.

Mikael Akerfeldt- Guitarist/vocalist from Opeth. Has an amazing tone... just can't get enough.

Steven Wilson- Porcupine Tree... No Man... Blackfield etc. Produced Opeth, creates the most insanely beautiful vocal harmonies. In fact I admire his production/mixing as much as his musicianship.

Radiohead in general- They created OK Computer. And several other masterpieces.

Daniel Gildenlow- BE. Another masterpiece. Amazing singer, great guitarist, incredible songwriter. I haven't seen anyone sing better than he does live. He's actually perfect.

I'd also like to mention 2Pac. While most people here know who he is, I doubt many are all that famliar with his work. This guy wrote songs back in the day when rappers actually performed with a band with them on stage.

No they didn't. They all had DJs. Bands were not used by rappers " back in the day" because they were not deemed neccessary. All they needed was a DJ to hype the crowd and spin a music tracks/records for them to rap on/over. And its still generally the same today. The Roots are an example one of the rare hip hop bands that exist today.
Tupac I listened to until I heard the track with him cursing out Biggie and his family and saying how he was gonna basically fuck them all up. Some really scary ranting and raving. After hearing that he became like shit to me. Utter filth

I always hated that cartoon especially since growing up in Jamaica at the time, we only had 1 TV station, so as much as I hated Tom and Jerry, I could not change the channel. Which made me hate it even more I really hated Jerry

I'm not a Tom and Jerry fan mostly because as with all those shows I always wanted Tom/Coyote/Elmer Fudd/Sylvester and even Scratchy to unleash and unholy flurry of extreme violence on their prey that they were always after and never got their hands on

See, thank you! I agree 100% I thought I was the only one and perhaps a little strange.
That's why I really hated Tom and Jerry in the first place because Tom was just a damn sissy and never really fought back. He just took the abuse all day, every day from that damn mouse.

Are you serious? Have you ever seen a rapper perform live? On snl, perhaps. They play with bands quite regularly, though it happening has decreased dramatically in recent years. I know pac played lots of shows with just a dj, at small clubs and shit, but a lot of his larger stage productions involved actual bands playing with him.
