QUOTE(Merica @ Jul 22 2011, 5:00 am) *

I've never listened to Candlebox in my life. Worth it?

Listen to their first self titled album or listen to Happy Pills. IMO those are the two best. I didn't dig Lucy at all (third album).

Into the Sun was solid too.

Reading some of the other comments on this thread I just have to mention that I have Happy Pills as one of my all time favorite albums. My favorite bands of all time are Live, Soundgarden/Cornell, Silverchair and Candlebox.

Their lyrics are extremely underrated too. Songs like Sometimes or Blossom are incredible.

When I listen to their older stuff now they sort of resemble Pearl Jam in more ways than one. Great lyrics, great musicians and similar styles in a lot of ways. Never really noticed it before because of the different voices Kevin Martin and Eddie Vedder have.

Id love to hear a new Candlebox record as much as the next guy ("Into The Sun" was great), but outside of a mention of it in an interview over a year+ ago from Kevin, where has an EP been confirmed? Ive learned one thing since TGF record came out.... and thats to take any news with a grain of salt from these guys. Kevin was quoted numerous times that TGF would be the main obligation of his for the next 5 years and that they would focus solely on that. Their other bands would just have to "wait". 10 months later, TGF have yet to tour stateside since December and Candlebox added some twenty shows to their prior obligations to fairs and radio gigs. Now they are on a full blown tour, which was never the plan for 2011.

All Im saying is things change. Will TGF tour this fall? Id fucking love it, but am leaning towards the "believe when I see it" esp with the album being over a year old and no promotional push in the foreseeable future..... will CB release a new EP? or an LP? Again, we'll see.

I know the guys read this board and some of my comments can seem harsh (with what to believe), but Im speaking the truth and dont mean any disrespect.

I agree with your comments, all things change when youre managing your own bands.

I never spun CB until they toured with Live severalyears ago and I hated Into The Sun

But when TGF started.,, I dunno.I grew up or smth... CB sond trememndous to me now. and you know why? first and foremost, ue to Kevin's INCREDIBLE poetry. I do not even call it lyricks. POETRY

So Ray, give it a spin. I prefer the self-titled.

Aaaaaaaand KEvin is a beast on stage. Get their DVD

http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=...786636&comments (cool video!)

Kevin confirms Candlebox start the new record this Wednesday 8/24/11. The believer in me hopes its in the can by early-mid October so TGF can squeeze some dates in...

but I have a feeling TGF (outside of the upcoming free online EP) will be put on hiatus --yes, yes that word bands love to overuse.

Well, lets hope the new LIVE and CB records are good. To best the TGF album will be a tall order.

At least any sort of TGF hiatus is because of timing and work commitments, not personal problems within the band, it's a true hiatus. Still, need new TGF!

Kevin Martin's latest blog entry is intriguing.

Wonder if something happened with funding the album? Maybe a record deal lost? The journalist in me wants to point blank ask them but it seems rude. smile.gif
