Hey guys, I posted this on the fan page but I wanted to share it with y'all too...

"We're running a contest for an extremely limited edition (1 of 5, to be exact) hand pulled 11x17 screen-printed Adam Taylor & The Rain Dogs poster. Entering is easy. All you have to do is go to the facebook event for the show (http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=288206931195921) , click "I'm Attending" and SHOW UP to the show. After our set we will draw the names from the "attending" list out of a hat. If you're there, BOOYAH, it's yours. The entire band will sign it and Katie might even give you a hug (let's be honest, that's worth the 5 dollar cover alone). The remaining four posters will be on sale just incase you've already set your heart on leaving with one.

I will repeat myself for those of you who don't read no good -- YOU HAVE TO SHOW UP! So see you there.

Much Love,AT&RD"

If my name gets pulled out of the hat and I'm half way across the other side of the world, I'll accept not winning the poster, that's fair enough, but I will however have stamped claim to have won a Katie hug!

by the way Adam, whats the significance behind the name change to "Rain Dogs" ? .. just cool sounding or ?

"Rain Dogs" is a Tom Waits song and album, and it's the first name that felt right. In the song, Waits cavorts with his drunken cohorts, the rain dogs. I think retroactively the name has gained greater meaning for me, though. I'm a loyalist, through and through, like a dog. It's a trait that I think trumps everything else about me and I surround myself (friends AND fans) with people that are loyal as well.

I've been thinking of band names for a long time now. I think it's become evident that although I write all of the songs, "Adam Taylor" was much bigger than just "Adam Taylor". Kate and Gibby developed a large identity within the band, not only on stage but off of stage. Adam Taylor isn't Adam Taylor without these people, and they deserved a name.

I must have been subconsciously thinking Tom Waits because for some reason I kept going to think "I wonder if it's based on the Tom Waits album" but then reminded myself that album was called Bone Machine ... and sort of completely forgot that he kind of has more than one album.

Cheers for the explanation though, I always love that when you go with something because of one reason but it ends up forming its own identity and a new meaning. Sort of always feels like a reinforcement that you made the right choice.

Speaking of Waits, i'm psyched about his new album next month!

Must have named the band TAYLOR

You know just like some kind of heavy-doom-brutal metalcore band, that always name themselves after the surname of their vocalist omg.gif rockin.gif

Damn... that demo is awesome. Oliver and Jazzonia are great songs to blast flying down the highway.
