I stand by what I originally said in this thread:
... but I must add that Show is, for all it's flat blandness, a tune that I dig.

Show sounds like a good pop tune of the 80's.

I think the River is an okay song so I will give the la dee da a pass. Also, 10,000 Horses is a good Candlebox song and Kevin Martin gives it a solid fa la la la-ing in it:

The difference is that song rocks and so does the entire album. SFBM, not so much.

Ed wrote SFBM from the perspective of a woman, it has no testosterone, no balls at all. I can think of many female artists that are more masculine than Ed on SFBM. For that alone V is better. I'd take rapping Ed over female Ed any day. You pretty much have to hand over your man card if you like SFBM. If I want to get in touch with my feminine side I'll listen to a real girl, although Ed is pretty close here.

That's pretty immature. "Getting in touch with your femine side" doesn't come from listening to anyone. It comes from a learned perspective, combined with what you truly feel deep down in your soul.

I don't think that music requires testosterone to be any good neither, as I get that's what you were implying.

I just think that what you're saying here is very A-typical and cliche. It's quite the perfect and polished example of what women mean when they say that men don't understand them.

I literally laughed out loud at reading this and just shook my head after rereading it. "hand over your man card?"....if you like SFBM??? I really would hope for your sake that you're really not being serious here.

I do agree that SFBM sucks. But I have to say in all honesty that I think V sucks a million times worse. I could see it easily being on a list of 20 worst albums ever made.

I have listened to SFBM about 2 or 3 times,....and I don't like it at all,... loads of la dah dah dah dah,....this album is too soft and full of positivity, it doesn't reflect LIFE or LIVE,...I don't feel any of my own emotions in any of the songs.

V is much better,...I love SC, PLY, which are more raw than the other songs, but even the other songs have much more emotions running around then any other SFBM song.

I would definitely choose V over SFBM for the island trip....

whatever its gonna take
good luck, keep it real
where are the boys in LIVE?
they're pissin' in the mainstream
open up your cage
focus all your rage
the world needs people like you

What I was implying is that "getting in touch with your feminine side" doesn't mean becoming a giant pussy. If becoming a giant pussy is your idea of understanding women, then yes, hand in your man card.

V is a an album I enjoy. It is very different from what Live produced previously and there are some songs that I cannot stand listening to, such as People like you, Like a soldiers and OK? However, it has some great songs namely, Deep Enough, Transmit your love to me, Flow, Forever…, Overcome, and Hero of love. Though I do not generally like Simple Creed the Paradiso version was super. The thing about V is that you can still feel the energy in those songs, which is missing from the entire SFBM and from half of BOP.

Man, I love People like you, Like a soldier and OK. I did here somewhere around here that lots of people don't like Like a soldier - to me it is a pretty cool track.

Thumbs up...

It is good that you enjoy the songs. I am not saying that the songs are objectively bad, they are tunes i do not dig.

Yesterday I forced myself to listen to SFBM again after a long while.
It sucks.
I could not remember how much it sucks.
I could'nt listen to a single song in its entirety, but after 30, 40 secs I was skipping to the next one.
V is a masterpiece, compared to this s*#t

I don't think any of us have any idea about understanding women. But people certainly are free to try to put out their perspective, as I suspect Ed did here.

My point is that calling somebody a giant pussy, or accusing a person of becoming one, simply because they're trying to express that perspective based on their own observations and feelings, is fairly immature and just downright stupid.

I dislike the music just as much as the next guy for its lack of creativity but....

I cannot listen to V period. As much as SFBM sucks?? V reeks a trillion times worse. As bad as the lyrics are on SFBM? The lyrics on V are wayyyyy more pathetic. Maybe we should start a game to try and analyze this utter trash and try to make some sense of it?

Cos' I'm quite sure that it doesn't get any worse than Call me a Fool, OK or People Like You. It's be intersting to hear some of the comparisons though. See what level of elementary school each lyric holds a flame to.
