SHOW A LITTLE LOVE TO ME!!!! SHOW A LITTLE LOOOOVE TO ME!!!!!!!!

Fuck it, guys, Show is a good tune.

Not the classic Live we love the most, for sure, but Show is the best song off SFBM.

I doubt that Show is an agressive tune, but it is surely an alright pop tune.

Show is an aggressive tune with heavy metal influences - Live at its absolute beastliest.

'Show' is of course short for 'Show me the hammer smashed, maggot infested skulls' , as you know.

I thought it was "Show me where I left my balls".

The answer to that is "Back in 1999"

Seriously though, Show is ... tolerable, at best. I wouldn't listen to it willingly, but if it were on somewhere I'd not do a action movie style dive at the device playing it in order to shut it off as I would with say .. Home, or The River, or You are not alone, or All I need, or Mystery, or Get Ready, or WDWGFM, or Wings.

I'd rank it behind Sofia and Night of Nights in order of best songs on SFBM, now when I say "best" songs on SFBM, obviously that is not exactly a prestigious award or anything. But with those 3 songs I can at least say that each of them were more missed opportunities that could have been more.
Sofia should have been nearly 10mins long, that same cool opening from the live version, have an awesome breakdown instrumental part where CCP are able to just jam away, and as with all of the album it shouldn't have sounded completely flat and lifeless in the production and mixing, given a bit of spice and edge. The chorus could have used some more imagination too ... they basically took what could have been a cool song and made it as safe as humanly possible.

Night of Nights could have been a lot more haunting, almost hankering back to the SS days. But the lyrics are just an abomination. Its got a little bit of interesting stuff going on musically which could have really been expanded on. But it's mostly the lyrics, just completely wasted.

Show should have hit the effects on the vocals a little harder, there is just a hint of the sound of Ed singing through something that sounds like a 2-way radio on the verses which could have just made things a little more interesting if they played around with that more. Again it's mostly the lyrics that are the problem. But I think that's more in the context of an album .. by the time Show has played you're going "jesus christ Ed, stfu about women". I mean I like women as much as the next guy, but when that's the only topic you are writing songs about it just reeks of having run out of anything creative to say. You just end up saying the same thing in many different (albeit not that different) ways.
So maybe show could be a better song if listened to once off, but I think for me anyways the damage has been done.

At least that's my opinions anyways smile.gif

The problem with Show is the recording of it. I hate when I hear the words "secret space". It happens a couple of times on the album. I had a very good live version of it that I lost, way better than the recording.

It's missing a little music, maybe guitar work in the bridge and at the end to give more depth to it. Some songs (Sophia, Show, WDWGFH) had some potential, but somehow they miss something to be considererd very good pop songs.

Pokey, you got all serious, man. What happened? sad.gif

... for me, Show is catchier than Sofia and Night of Nights, but they're not far behind. I don't disagree with anybody's assessments in regards to them being misses opportunities.

Well don't do it again, yeah?

But still, for me, Show is the best. So many of the other tunes are just endlessly forgettable (All I Need and You Are Not Alone say hello) or you literally should be EMBARRASSED if you're around friends and they come on (The River / Mystery).

My library still follows Gas Hed Goes West with SFBM (Songs following Secret alphabetically, of course). I tell you, when The River starts after the majesty of GHGW, it really is a million mile fall from grace. Fucking astounding drop in quality, artistry - just everything.

Maybe his balls went west. Ha ha, lot's of ball fixation. But seriously, this guy became such a pussy. I became embarrassed to say I was ever a fan. Maybe Show is a decent pop tune. I'll never know. I can't listen to such feminine crap coming from the guy who belted out White Discussion and so many other ballsy songs.
