Is there a story about the song Tredecim and why they named it that? I had to look up the meaning of the word. (13 in Latin) That is my favorite song off the record.....just wondering if there was a story behind it.

This should explain it

http://theywillrockyou.com/2010/07/downloa...candlebox-live/

Lead singer, Kevin Martin talks about the meaning behind Tredecim, “As I started to focus in on the song I over heard Chad Taylor mention feeling as though he were in the Harvest Moon of his life, the fullness and strength he was feeling with the new material. It made me think of the calendars life that we follow each and every year in regards to how it would celebrate its life through story or song. Beginning with the Harvest Moon and ending with the rebirth of life as in the birth of the Harvest, a years cycle actually being 13 in regards to the birth month not ending at 12 with death. It may seem a little strange to read or comprehend but it made perfect sense to me!! HA. The lyrics represent that full heart, the tired Autumn, the sleep of Winter awakening with Spring and the birth of life. Ending with the statement ‘my life has made me flatland” as in unending, no obstacles just plains running as far as the eyes can see, our “calendar.’”

It's good but I'd have to rank Honest Man, Appetite, and The Few above it.

The Few - is it just me or does that song fucking rock! rockin.gif

Does anyone have the album on vinyl?
How is the quality of the sound?
Was it mastered specifically for vinyl?

"Honest Man" was the first song I heard from these guys and "Tredecim" came soon after. I have to be honest, I did not like "Tredecim" at first... it took a few months. But now, almost a year since the release its one of my favorites. Funny how that happens.

We're referring to the song "The Few", not the band itself.

And yes, the band rocks! rockin.gif

Tredecim should have been a single. Rock music history is littered with epic songs that don't fit the mold of the usual single (Stairway, Freebird, etc). The song is just really different and powerful and everyone seems to like it. Could have probably done well on rock radio. Lord knows radio could use a jolt of something different.
