Actually around the time of the SFBM tour, LIVE brought a lot of old favorites back into the setlist, and were routinely playing 2 hour plus sets. Even on the 2009 tour we got a few old gems back into the setlist(Top, Hold Me Up, and the Vic Chestnut cover).

I was attending concerts from 2000 to 2009, and from 2005 on, the setlists were much more varied.

De-Nile is a River in Egypt!

Ed told me himself that they weren't mixing it up. He said they had no time to rehearse on tour so they weren't adding new songs. If anything they were dropping a song or two each show.

In fact, there was a girl in the front row who had a huge sign that said "Play Heropshychodreamer". She was also backstage. Ed acknowledged to her that he saw the sign but he couldn't have played it for her because they hadn't rehearsed it.

Look up setlists from before 2005 and after 2005. You will see that the band tried to add more songs to the setlist during the post 2005 period.

They may not have rehearsed Heropsychodreamer, but they did rehearse and bring back/introduce (RattleSnake, Operation Spirit, Dam at Otter Creek, I Walk the Line, Iris, Top, The Distance, Simple Creed, Mother Earth is a Vicious Crowd, Mirror Song, Hold Me Up, Supernatural) during that time period.

The Distance to Here, V, and Birds of Pray tours basically had a stagnant setlist(I did not attend the Throwing Copper/Secret Samahdi tour). Songs from Black Mountain and beyond included a more varied setlist.

The varied setlists (if you can actually call it that) was largely due to CCP actually rehearsing the songs. Ed wasn't part of these rehearsals. How many recordings or how many times did we see Live in concert where Ed forgot the lyrics? Too many to count.

I've been LIVE/Ed numerous times in concert and Ed remembering lyrics was never a problem. Every singer occasionally forgets their lyrics, not a huge deal. It is just more noticeable than a guitarist playing the wrong chord.

I call bs on this......numerous times after 2000 he became forgetful of the music.....you need to go back and really listen to the bootlegs because he does miss a lot of lyrics. How would u know when you are monitoring the crowd and counting how many come through the door and buy shirts, pendants and coffee? lol.gif

And he was spot on perfect pre-2000? Every singer misses an occasional lyric, it is not a huge deal.

Sure, it's not a big deal when your idol is committing the errors.

If this was any other singer you would surely rag on them.

Go listen to the shows again. You just want to take up space and argue.

I've been to enough to know that even if Ed missed a lyric, it wasn't a huge deal. I've seen Chad Taylor fall on his butt at a LIVE show too, no biggie. I've seen Pat throw his bass into the audience after having issues with it, all good. It makes the concert real.

actually all that does make it real. We can agree to disagree on missing the lyrics.......it usually is on songs he doesn't rehearse before shows.

I've never heard Ed miss a lyric.

I remember back in 2005 or smth yhey played IRIS. And Ed forgot it completely. He even started laughing and said they had not played it for 11 years (which was a mistake, as they played it a couple of years previously).

You can also try listening to the tremendous Grunspan boot in 2001 where Ed mistakes the lines in PLOTE and then asks a gal from the audience to sing heropsychodreamer for him asking "Do you know the words to this one?"

I was at the concert where they brought Iris back(Myth nightclub in Minnesota) in October 2005. The song wasn't on the setlist amd they just tried to pull it off at the end of the concert. Ed had no idea what most of the words were, and Adam led the song. It was actually really cool. Soon after Iris returned to the setlist, and Ed knew all the words.

Pat through his bass in the audience in Hampton Beach, NH in Augusrt 2004. He grew frustrated over something and just tossed it out there. A stage crew member came out after and demanded it be returned. It was also very memorable.
