Chad Taylor on V, Where can I find it? Options

I wish they never released V. Right at that point, I lost all respect for Live as song-writers. I wish they could take it back and pretend it never happened. Oh well.

Musically AND lyrically? Lyrically the album was a train wreck, but musically it is actually pretty freaking solid. Gracey's best drumming takes place on the album.

I maintain that the songs were intended to stay as demos, and that a lot of the lyrics weren't even really finished. Chad's writings support that.

That is entirely subjective. What isn't subjective is that having Deep Enough on the radio while The Fast and the Furious was killing it in the theaters would have been preferable over having Simple Creed, which we can say with certainly was a complete waste on radio.

The single releases from the album made absolutely no sense given how many opportunities were out there.

Sure, they could have moved a few more units while driving the nail further in he coffin with a song like deep enough. I think releasing an acoustic version of simple creed similar to mtv unplugged or a bare bones rock version similar to what Chris Cornell did with Long Gone would have resonated with Live fans much more and maybe kept the flame burning for those that didn't get V.

I know we all know how things turned out musical quality wise after V, but I wonder how things would have gone if V was an absolute smash and they did do things like put out Deep Enough and FMNBLE and they did well? Surely then the label would have pushed even harder for Live to become even more commercial, it could have been even worse potentially. Instead it seemed after V failed that for the most part that labels didn't really want to spend much time thinking about them.
It's some sliding doors bullshit I know, but it would have been interesting at that point how different things would have gone, I certainly can't see them going any better than they did.

I don't see the quality gap between the two songs that you do I guess. I like them both. They both have awkward rap elements and really terrible lyrics, though.

I just remember that the feeling around the community when we started getting crunchy, distorted live recordings of Deep Enough was that V was going to be awesome. Then they released the 1:30 versions of the songs and excitement started to wane a bit because we heard Call Me a Fool for the first time.

Then the album came out and everyone was divided. Oh, the Illout days...
