If Ed was reforming LIVE with new musicians, I'm sure you would take it well. lol.gif

If the others chose to leave (LIKE ED) then there wouldn't be much to say.

Which is what they did with The Gracious Few. LIVE was one of the more successful 90's touring acts even towards the end of their run. A proper reunion down the line would have done well Worldwide. Creating a new LIVE just waters down their band and drawing power. LIVE was still able to fill up 2000 capacity halls in 2009, I think new LIVE would be lucky to hit a 1/4 of that in concert. CCP should embrace the hiatus of LIVE, form a new band, and cover some LIVE tunes along the way.

They did non-Live music with TGF. Now they want to revisit the history and essence of Live. There's no problem there at all. They're allowed to have different bands and projects of course. And this new Live, I don't think, will water down the drawing power of any eventual reunion.

Not that, of course, drawing power matters. If I was a touring musician I'd rather perform for 100 fans who really, really got my shit and knew all about it than 250 folks who just turned up for the single they heard on the radio and don't care to give any time or effort to my work beyond that. Not that those fans should be discounted but, for me at least, it's the former over the latter if I could choose, every single time.

Artistic integrity, quality and connection over selling a few extra tickets and t-shirts every single time.

Also, CCP should do exactly what they want and are completely entitled to do - which is continue with something they've dedicated the majority of their lives to. They don't need to bend to please a few casual fans who'll be upset that somebody who doesn't want to be there anyway isn't there. Fuck that.

there is nothing worse than some nostalgia act playing their past hits. Any band with integrity for their art would put their neck out there with some new music.

The best acts do both.

You equate "best" with most successful. Actual music fans equate "best" with the quality of the music.
You don't deserve music.

So you admit to valuing success / sales over the actual quality of music itself?

You just don't even see the music. You see a commercial opportunity. Honestly your attitude towards music is disgusting and I can't argue with you anymore about it, if you want to waste your time whinging and complaining about Live 2.0 when theres nothing you can do to have things your way, then feel free to waste your time on something you hate. I'm not going to do the exact same thing as that and waste my time on you anymore.
This is the most exciting time in the world of Live in many years and we should be focused on that rather than slinging shit at everything and throwing a tantrum because Ed isn't a part of it.
This is the last I'm going to argue with you about this because the only reason I can see for you being here is to argue, hopefully if that can be taken away from you then you'll slither off back under your rock and can just stick to enjoying Ed somewhere else.

Yeah, last time I reply to this BS too. You really are the cockroach of this board. I'd still like to hear your reasoning on why it is OK for Ed to carry on in the spirit of Live, but not for Live to actually do so. The words came right from his mouth, "The spirit of Live continues with this band". So let me get this right, Ed spurns Live, starts a new band with "the spirit of Live", plays mostly Live tunes, heavily promotes his connection to Live but C,C,P are not allowed to carry on likewise? They own the band, are free to move forward as Live, even asked Ed to participate, yet they should not do so? So they should wait until Ed is ready, or if he is even ready to rejoin them, whenever that may be? You or any Ed fan really have no ground to stand on. You can't leave Live, then have a problem with them continuing. Maybe it would be different if they kicked him out, but in Ed's latest interview, he made it very clear that he left. He's also said that he would never work with those individuals again, so I don't really see what they would be waiting for. Bottom line is, they are moving on the best they can. I'm sure they'd like it to be different, but there is really no other solution for Live right now. They've already been on hiatus for 2 years. It's high time they moved on and that's what they are doing. You should do the same.

I never said CCP shouldn't carry on the spirit of LIVE. I just think they should use the name LIVE unless Ed is back. If you go to an Ed Kowalczyk of LIVE show, you know you are getting the vocalist of LIVE not the band. If you go to a LIVE show, I bet a lot of fans will be expecting to see Ed.

CCP are good at talk and hype, but they rarely deliver. This time last year, TGF was going to be the next big thing. Now TGF is all but dead, and the new LIVE is going to be the next great thing. If this fails, what is left for them?

You are the one full of talk and hype as you once again failed to produce anything substantive to back up your reasoning.

I have him on ignore now, it's brilliant. If he wants to waste his time whinging about Live then he can go right ahead, I'm not gonna waste my time on him, his bullshit backwards way of thinking doesn't warrant attention unless it's a scientific case study on the mind of a man-child.

Pokey, I agree with you. If everyone who is irritated by Nick puts him on ignore, this place would be quite peaceful I think. nod.gif

Hi,

just to ease (or worsen?) some tension off the board - here's something I found while listening to Divided Mind, Divided Planet today: http://mediafiveent.com/archive/viewprofile.php?id=174

Nice early promo pic too.
